Yavapai lodge was closed because of the storm and I was never informed by trip advisor. Got to the park with nowhere to stay and had to pay $500 per night for the only room in town available.

A second visit

This was the second time staying at Yavapi Lodge. The previous visit being in 2024. In terms of value for the south rim this is definitely the most budget friendly in-park option although of course the location is a compromise as it is a reasonable walk to the canyon itself.Check-in was smooth very efficient. We took advantage of the automated arrival system which was pretty easy to use. We then drove to our specific accommodation which has parking immediately outside and very comfortable and well size room for a short day. We were only staying for two nights and we’re doing a rim to river hike so we’re gonna spend very little time in the room beyond arriving heading out for the hike and getting back from the hike to sleep. The rooms are relatively basic, but sufficiently equipped to make any stay enjoyable. The parking immediately outside the rooms is really convenient and during our stay it wasn’t especially busy so that definitely made parking easier.I’d happily stay again and have already looked at availability for a planned trip in 2027.Just a note on the hike. This year we were out and back on the Bright Angel Trail and we did take the car to the trailhead for our 4 am start.

Great location, expected more for cost

The location was tiptop. We loved being in the park with walkable access to so much around the southern rim of the Grand Canyon. The staff were so great at check-in - personable and welcoming. The room was a little sparse - which may have been an oversight on my part. I was expecting a microwave - and the fridge was not cooling too well. For the cost of our stay, I expected those amenities to be available and working. The hallways of our building smelled bad, and the cleaning crew did not follow our request to limit cleaning of our linens to conserve water.The bunkbed concept was fun and worked pretty well for our family of four. We had a good stay and were grateful for a comfortable place to rest after long days of exploring.

The Yavapai lodge is a wonderful location with wonderful front desk staff, helpful employees and comfortable accommodations. The bathroom sink in our room needs attention, the water sprayed all over when u turned it on. We enjoyed the wall art and the window view. The beds are comfortable as are the outside chairs for star gazing. We watched the lightening in the distance and the stars above!
