Concierge is there for her own benefit! Don’t fall for the ‘visit the concierge suggestion!’Do not be fooled by the front desk’s instructions to go see the concierge for your wristbands. If you do not have your room yet, the concierge is rude and has nothing to offer. The concierge doesn’t provide discounts for activities and services like other resorts. The concierge will continuously bully you into doing a timeshare tour while you are waiting for your room while offering nothing while she makes you wait. The concierge offered me a chair which I politely declined, but I didn’t explain why because it’s none of her business. I just got off a 6.5 hour flight, so I really do not want to sit more. Believe it or not, she again insisted that I sit down in her chairs while talking to her and again, I had to politely decline despite her nasty tone. When you politely decline, she accuses you of not letting her do her job: “I am just doing my job Mrs. ______”, she retorts. As Adam S stated on October 2, 2025, the concierge has NOTHING to offer you except an elastic wrist band that acts as a room key and that is only after you have your room. You don’t need the elastic wristband - it’s not required at the pool or on the grounds. Don’t waste your wonderful vacation time on waiting for the concierge to hopefully provide discounts to activities or suggestions for dining - she offers NOTHING but a bad personal experience. The resort should listen to the guests’ complaints and reviews and do something about the concierge’s rude, bullying behavior. I’ve visited many timeshare resorts and even agreed to timeshare tours during free time, but her instantly evil, argumentative and demanding behavior requires one to not reward her behavior by agreeing to a timeshare tour - I was offered a free week if I immediately agreed to the timeshare tour to this resort I’ve never seen before - I just got here! I didn’t know if I’d like to return to this place having never set foot on the property. The Beachboy Resort is pretty and well-groomed in front. But, the landscaping and flowerbeds are ugly around the bottom floor’s tiny, outdoor patios. There are grills and nice grill areas with picnic tables. Parking was easy and free. The front desk check in was smooth and gracious. We were here for a week and there was no mid-week room cleaning, but if you need anything, housekeeping was very fast and very nice. The pool area is pretty. Keep in mind you have to navigate the chickens and don’t leave your drinks unattended because the chickens will jump up and snatch your pineapple slice off your drink! The pool bar was open, the drinks were tasty, and the prices were decent comparing to larger resorts we’ve visited. The pool bar operator was very nice, helpful and professional. It is true that the rooms are older and not fancy like Marriotts or Hiltons, but the 2-bedroom was spacious enough to add our own twin sized air bed that we brought. Housekeeping immediately provided the bedding we needed for both the pullout queen in the living room and our twin-sized air bed. The main bed was very comfortable while the 2 twin beds were harder mattresses. The pillows are good. The kitchen is well equipped. Housekeeping and the front desk were very professional and prompt! They truly made our experience nice as compared to the negative, unprofessional and extremely rude concierge.I would visit again, but I’m not visiting the concierge!

Shell Vacations Club Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy

We booked this resort through RCI and it was shown as a gold level resort which I believe is the highest level. However the resort is a 3 star at best. The pros: Great location - central to everything and right across the street from Coconut Marketplace which has great eating options, the oceanfront is very pretty and there are lounge chairs for relaxing and listening to the waves, the rooms have a nice balcony with a small table and two chairs and most have a partial ocean view, it's great to have a washer/dryer and kitchen, the staff was friendly and accommodating. Cons: the resort is very outdated and worn and could use a really deep cleaning. Note there are no elevators and the buildings are 3 stories - not a problem for us but good to know.

Great views and wonderful staff
19 Feb 2026
We stayed her for 9 days the weather was overcast and windy but the resort was excellent. Good location easy to access many shops restaurants and activities. The staff were all wonderful. The condos are a little dated but very clean and everything works great. The best thing is the wonderful view from the lanai of the ocean. With the wind the waves were big and very nice to watch. Would recommend this place to anyone! Great sunrise too!

Disappointed in Shell Vacation Club Property on Kauai
24 Nov 2025
⭐️ 1-Star Review: Very Disappointing Stay (Oct 23–30, 2025)We stayed in a 2BR/2BA condo with a kitchen, and the unit was in poor condition. The rooms smelled strongly of mildew, and the ceiling A/C in the kitchen leaked a large amount of water onto the table and floor. The ceiling showed bubbled, damaged paint, clearly from previous leaks. We also found live roaches in the kitchen cabinets and drawers on multiple occasions. Both shower curtains smelled sour, adding to the overall lack of cleanliness. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this resort based on these issues.

A good base and decent hotel
31 Oct 2025
Stayed for 4 nights. Its a great place to base yourself. Rooms are decent size and has small kitchen if you dont want to eat out all the time. It has a great shop community with an abc store. Eateries. Really good location. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because its the first time i have experienced being told that they dont make the 3rd bed we requested for my son. Its a sofa pull out. But no pillows sheets or bedding provided initially and they said maids dont make the bed. WTF !!Anyhow. That was a first ! We eventually got the bedding and we made ourselves. But they let themselves down here. Apart from the check in process. Everything else was fine.
