  Beautiful Maui spacious condos on the beach and expansive pools and hot tubs

  Aloha! The Honua Kai were all spacious condos or Villas and comfortable. Our family had a Two bedroom spacious condo with walkout porch and open air doors. The pool area was very clean and different areas to sit out, swim, and enjoy the 5 hot tubs. The condo is about 45 mins from the airport so car rental is needed and helpful for other activities. You can walk to Whalers village but we drove. The resort offers valet parking which found helpful and less stressful parking the car. The cost of parking is included in the resort fees.The grounds of the resort are immaculate and very impressive with flowers and natural beauty. My daughters enjoyed the managed cat colony. We also enjoyed the ocean off the beach where you can snorkel right on reef for $23 snorkel rental and see many colorful fish varieties and if you are lucky a green sea turtle “Honu.” Victoria Awai, Other at OUTRIGGER Honua Kai Resort & Spa, responded to this review Aloha,Thank you for sharing such a detailed and thoughtful review.   Experience with all members of the Outrigger online and in-person staff were excellent. Every member with interacted with went above and beyond to be helpful. The 2 bed/2bath condo was clean, had a very nice view and a good layout. Kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. Housekeeping did an excellent job of providing requested items. Really an excellent experience all around. One comment--there is only one elevator bank for the entire wing. If mobility is an issue, request a room near the elevators.   This was my second stay in the Konea tower. Both visits were exceptional - great location, atmosphere, and a view that can't be beat! The 3 bedroom/3 bath units can comfortably lodge 8 people with room to spare.   Roaches in the room, AC that is on schedule to shut off, limited hot water. This is NOT 4 stars. It’s 2. At best.

  Our first room, ocean view was at the back of the courtyard. It was a courtyard view with ocean in the background. Right before bed cockroaches started running around. They knew about it because they had traps set. So they moved us to another room over an hour and a half later. This ocean view room had no ocean view at all. It also had a thermostat that was on some schedule so the ac kept shutting off. Then our last night when I showered and my fiance tried to take a bath the hot water went cold. They said each room had its own hot water tank. This is totally unacceptable for what should be a 4 start resort.   Misleading listing and undisclosed mandatory fees

  Be aware this is essentially a condo-style property, not a standard hotel experience. We were required to pay $500 mandatory cleaning and damage fees at check-in that were not disclosed during booking. Nice facilities, but transparency and consistency are lacking.
