    This place is gross. It was under construction but falling apart at the same time. I stayed on the third floor and it smelled like mildew. There was a bag of garbage outside of one of the rooms when I got there. I saw it every time I went to the elevator and it was still there when I check out 2 days later. The parking was sketchy- its not gated. I found the backdoor propped open with a towel. It was loud and bright in my room. The curtains did not shut all the way. Lastly, there was no hot water. Overall, its weird and terrible and feels like backpacking in a third-world country.     Awful hotel. Much better affordable options in the area.

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Room smelled like stale cigarettes. The construction outside made it nearly impossible to get any ride share services to pick you up or have any clear path to the convention center. My key deactivated all three nights that I stayed at this hotel. You can imagine what this felt like after a 15 hour day of working only to find out you can’t get into your hotel room THREE NIGHTS IN A ROW. plenty of other great options that are much cheaper nearby.     Fire! With no fire alarm! Human lives at risk!

    I checked in on Aug 28th, that night about 11 pm the building caught on fire. The hotel was evacuated but I was not? You know why? The fire alarm was not working at 12:37 am the next day I was awaked by another guest pounding on my door. The hotel was evacuated and no compensation was provided for my team or myself. At 1:30 am we had to find a new hotel as the staff was very un equipped to handle the situation. Follow up left the GM calling me a liar. See what other guests and news outlets reported as well. The following morning upon my return to cancel my reservation, I found the fire alarm system being worked on. The tech informed me the system had been out for a while. IHG has consistently pushed back on the hotel to make this situation right. Oh I forgot to mention that I had to wash everything including my suit case because of smoke. But the hotel said they had no smoke damage.     WOULD NOT STAY AGAIN!

    For $130/night after fees/taxes, this hotel fell short. When we arrived, We were greeted by massive construction on the loading/unloading canopy. Not a total dealbreaker, but was generally annoying as it wasn't mentioned in the listing, or when I had called to ask about an early check in a few days prior. The hotel is in a decent location, about a 15-20 minute walk to Dakin Park. The hallways have a weird smell, and the room looked uncared for cosmetically (damaged trim, slightly stained carpet, cracks in floor grout.) The A/C also was not working properly - we had it set to 60 F and the room still felt like it was in the 80s, I do not know for sure because there was also not a thermostat. After getting home from dinner on night 1, we were confused as there were no open parking spots. The front desk let us know that we may need to park off-property, and that if it is a paid lot we will be reimbursed. It is nice that they do that, but the closest parking lot that was not just out in the open was the Toyota Center garage, which is a ~0.25-mile walk. Overall the room and experience was lacking for $130/night, and we will not be staying here again the next time we are in Houston.     Hard to recommend, but close to sports venues.

    Pros: Solid typical Holiday Inn Express breakfast with variety for everyone. Location is great for baseball and basketball. Nice staff. Good beds and pillows. Cons: The building is in rough shape. We were a bit concerned about how safe we were with the locks on the doors and who could wander into the hotel. Not the safest area, but close to great venues. No places to eat nearby. Musty smell and the remodel work so far was sloppy. Hard to recommend this hotel as we used a free night for part of our stay and we went to an Astros game. Strange there were hooks for artwork in the room, but no decor at all. Shower pressure was really weak.
