    The case of the Traveling Television

    The Sugar Land Marriott is generally a solid hotel. The location in the heart of downtown Sugar Land is one of the best features. The bar lounge is solid and the quality of the breakfast buffet was quite good. The staff with a single exception was warm and friendly and helpful.Our room was appropriately appointed for this level / price. The hotel was clean but suffered from some odd smells at times (that maybe south-east Texas related).And now for the great oddity - our television - 50 or so inch flat screen tv began pixelating and we asked for it to be fixed - when the engineer came up and examined the tv he announced that “this is not one of our tvs”. He explained that this was the third time someone had swapped out an old tv for a newer one from the hotel - I thought I was being kidded. However when the engineer left the room at one point I examined the old tv and discovered it had been made in 2013 - clearly not from the hotel (my supposition was later confirmed by hotel management). In any event, after two additional tvs were tried, we were finally left with one that worked - sort of - the end of the Knick playoff game was still plagued with random pixelation. So if you head to this hotel - beware and ask for a room with a confirmed genuine Marriott installed tv. A very weird experience.

    This was a lovely hotel to stay in for my work conference I was in town for. Shelton made our check-in so seamless and was extremely friendly and helpful! My only complaint is the frigid temperatures in the conference room but other than that, I would highly recommend staying here!     The location is the best part of this hotel. It is surrounded by restaurants, shopping mall and a movie theater all within walking distance of.
