  Perfect stay in downtown Houston. Convenient location in downtown. Beautiful renovated hotel with spacious rooms. Breakfast was delicious.   Favorite hotel in Downtown

  Absolutely, by far, my favorite hotel in downtown Houston. From the front desk, to housekeeping, to the bar and restaurant, friendly and energetic service. Walking distance to the Astros, Main Street, restaurants and bars. AND, newly remodeled.   Nice hotel, lackluster experience.

  I booked the Sam Houston for a quick weekend trip to an Astros game. I'm not entirely sure I'd stay here again, but if I did, it would be after they're done with renovations. Valet (there is no self park option) is around the corner from the entrance to the lobby. It's not a far walk, but at night it's a little sketchy and not well lit. Valet is also through a 3rd party service, and while the first night and following day we had no issues, the morning of our checkout was a mess and we ended up going to get our own vehicle. Front desk did credit our valet charge for the 2nd night, so a solid effort was made to make that issue right. Our room (king deluxe, 9th floor) was nice. A little small, but decent sized bathroom and quality linens and amenities. We requested extra towels multiple times, but never got them. I get it, it's towels and not the end of the world, but having (1) extra bath towel would have been nice while the other 2 hung to dry. No where on the website for the Sam Houston does it say they're performing reservations. While we didn't hear anything in our room (again, 9th floor) it's possible this impacted those staying on lower floors. It also changes valet and check in locations, and appears to have affected the lobby layout and potentially the restaurant. Menu didn't really speak to us (especially breakfast - 98% of the items are eggs) so we did not have the opportunity to really try it out.   Musty.

  I found this hotel to be musty and somewhat smelly. It gave me headaches and I slept poorly. The restaurant is a full-service restaurant with no buffet option. Service was good the first morning I was there but slow the second morning of my stay.   This was my first time staying here. The lobby was under renovation. The front desk staff were all friendly. My room was ready upon arrival. My room was spacious and clean. I had a view of downtown. My bed was comfortable. And the shower had great water pressure. A safe was provided. The street down below was a little noisy at night. The air vent was also a little noisy. But all in all I slept well at night. The convention was just a few minute walk from the hotel. There were many eateries close by. And the train stops were nearby.
