Not matching with pictures and dirty. Big difference between lobby and a he rooms.

    rating03 May 2026

Rooms are ugly and dirty. Cockroaches in the room, the floor is cracked and dirty, valet is 50$ per night and the services are very bad. In 3 nights and parked the car couple of times, none of them open the door or help with the baggages. 0 interest in helping or smiling. General Manager, General Manager at The Whitehall Houston, responded to this review Dear Guest,We are sorry for the disturbances you reported and assure you that we do everything possible to discourage their entrance to our hotel. Not happy with our stay

    rating03 May 2026

This is our second year traveling to Houston to attend a robotics competition, we stayed at the Whitehall last year and had no issues. This year was different, the room we booked was the "Presidential Suite" on the top floor, we thought this would be acceptable for our family of four. The booking says it sleeps 4, however it only has one king size bed? The hotel suggested that we bring our own bed for our twin girls, seeing that this was the last room available our plan was to go to Target and buy an air bed. To the credit of the Hotel they did have one roll away bed available. Day 1: we found that the shower didn't look clean, the grout is dirty, and a clogged drain that would pool water, maintenance did fix it the next morning. The floor into the living room area had a 3 inch by 1/2 inch missing chunk of plank flooring. The wallpaper is old and shows wear from over the years. Day 2: We appreciate that they have a shuttle ( 1 out of 2 Hotels in the downtown area that have this service), but it feels like the drivers do not care about the time they leave and our safety. We had an incident with our pickup location; the driver parked across the street and wanted us to run across oncoming traffic, he motioned us to come over on a green light and Houston drivers zipping by? My wife lost her cool with this dangerous request, she was so stressed and angry. Day 3: The ceiling in this room was patchwork from over the years of repair and a hole in the ceiling was actively dripping water on the marble tile flooring, not sure if it was the condensation from the HVAC (which is terribly loud), or it had rained the day before (perhaps the roof had a leak). We found clear bits of tape on the ceiling and walls in the bedroom from a previous guest (perhaps from a sign they had hung)? Fake flower pedals were found throughout the room. Previous guest garbage found under the bed. We joked that the room should be renamed because it is definitely not "Presidential". We are not fancy people, we just expect to have things clean and in order. The service at the hotel restaurant was awful, last year it was great. This year you need to place your order at the bar then find a table. If you need anything you need to get up and go to the bar to order. The quality of the food was fine, and the taste was very good on some of the items we ordered. We ate four times (two breakfasts and two dinners) our first morning we were late for an event due to a 30-40 minute wait for simple breakfast items. That same night the waited an hour for our dinner, this made my wife and girls angry. Last year breakfast was included with our stay this year we had to pay? The general apathy by the staff is the most frustrating thing, no emotion, no care to make things right. General Manager, General Manager at The Whitehall Houston, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your experiences during your stay. We are disappointed that you had some concerns with your room. Our goal is to provide an exceptional experience for each of our guests; therefore, we regret not meeting all of your expectations, particularly compared to your previous stay. We have also noted your disappointment with the delay in our services, including shuttle and dining. We have shared these concerns with the appropriate individuals, and we are very grateful for your patience. Your feedback is important to us, and we will use it to improve our services going forward. We regret any frustration caused and appreciate your candid observations. We hope you will consider giving The Whitehall Houston another chance to provide you with the exceptional stay you deserve.Yours in Hospitality, Sal Khatri General Manager

    Great, but...

    rating03 May 2026

The staff, beds, and breakfast were great. However, we did have an issue with our room and they couldn't help us. We ended up getting a handicap room, which isn't a big deal except for the shower and the fact that using the shower floods the bathroom. We went downstairs to talk to the front desk and it's a known issue. The kind lady gave me five towels to help soak up all the water in the floor. I asked for another room with two beds or a king with a rollout but there was no availability. I asked again the next day but no help. They were empathetic to the issue but there's nothing they could do. If you wind up in this situation there, here are some pictures. I suppose the best tip I can give is get five to seven extra towels and then build a sandbag type wall with them. General Manager, General Manager at The Whitehall Houston, responded to this review Dear Guest,We appreciate your kind words about our team and breakfast during your stay. However, we understand the frustration with the room's shower issues and are sorry for any inconvenience this caused. We will work with our maintenance team to ensure that this concern is promptly and effectively resolved to prevent such occurrences in the future. Although availability sometimes restricts room changes, we value your feedback and are using it to focus on improvements. Thank you for your understanding and patience. We would love for you to visit again and have a truly seamless experience.Yours in Hospitality, Sal Khatri General Manager
