Call to see if the pool is open before booking.

    rating28 Jul 2026

We chose this property for it's location near Long Branch Beach and Asbury Park. WE were traveling with our friends who were never to the NJ shore. We planned time at the pool and the beach. The hotel advertises nice photos of a pool and patio. When we arrived there was a padlock on the pool. The cushions to the furniture were worn looking and some on the ground. It does not look as nice as presented in the promo photos. We spoke with the front desk and they said they were sorry and did not offer any kind of reconciliation or credit for the pool being closed the only two days we were there. Hotels.com helped us out and showed we are valued customers. We will never stay here again. I normally write good reviews and this time I was disappointed to have to write a negative one. The staff were pleasant but their manager never seemed to be available or at the property. Guest Services, Owner at Sonesta Select Tinton Falls Eatontown, responded to this review Dear Holly,Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. It's very disappointing to hear about the issues with the pool and the condition of the patio furniture. We also understand the importance of having access to amenities as advertised. We empathize with your frustration and appreciate your kind words about our staff. Your feedback is important, and we’ll address these concerns with our team. We hope you’ll reconsider and give us another opportunity to improve your experience.

    Horrible experience

    rating18 Jul 2026

I tried to contact hotel management several times for a response and have been ignored, so now I’m bringing this to here. I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding a series of issues my family experienced during our stay at Sonesta Select Tinton Falls Eatontown from June 19–21. We have stayed at the property before without any problems, which makes this experience even more surprising and concerning. On the evening of June 19, after returning from dinner to Room 124, we were immediately met with an extremely strong odor of marijuana. This was not a faint smell; it was overwhelming and pervasive, as though marijuana had been smoked directly in the room for hours. I understand that this was likely not the case and suspect the odor may have entered through the ventilation system, most likely from the employee area located behind the front desk adjacent to our room. While I recognize that marijuana is legal in New Jersey, guests - especially children - should not be subjected to such conditions in a hospitality setting. My 9-year-old son was gagging from the smell, and I did not feel it was safe or appropriate for him to sleep in that environment. Thankfully, we returned late in the evening and discovered the issue before going to bed.The front desk staff promptly moved us to Room 135, for which I am appreciative. However, after packing all of our belongings and relocating, we arrived to find another unacceptable situation. There was a large section of ceiling material hanging down in the bathroom, approximately a foot long, with paint and plaster debris scattered throughout the bathtub (I have pictures). Once again, we had to gather our belongings and request another room change. We were ultimately moved to Room 137, where we were finally able to settle in. However, by that point, what should have been a relaxing evening had turned into a frustrating and stressful ordeal involving two room changes, disruption of our evening, and concerns about my child's health and safety.I am very troubled that the first room presented a potential air-quality issue and the second room had an obvious maintenance problem that should have been identified before being assigned to guests. These circumstances significantly impacted our stay and fell well below the standards we have previously experienced at your hotel.Given the inconvenience, disruption, and safety concerns involved, I am requesting reimbursement for the night of June 19. I would also appreciate understanding what steps will be taken to investigate both the marijuana odor issue and the condition of Room 135 so that future guests do not experience similar problems. Guest Services, Owner at Sonesta Select Tinton Falls Eatontown, responded to this review We sincerely apologize for the discomfort and inconvenience experienced during your stay. It is concerning to learn about the odor issue and subsequent challenges you faced. While it's reassuring that our staff acted promptly to relocate your family, we understand that multiple room changes were disruptive and upsetting. We take matters of air quality and room maintenance very seriously and are conducting a thorough investigation to prevent future occurrences. We kindly ask that you contact us directly so we can discuss your experience further. Your feedback is crucial to helping us improve our service standards.

Photos of both inside and outside by pool TOTALLY misleading!!!

    rating14 Jul 2026

The photos and hotel’s description of the amenities is totally misleading!! The pool is always closed and dirty if it’s open. The grounds by the pool does not have nice chairs w/ cushions and umbrellas everywhere! No umbrellas anywhere. The place smells of overly using disinfectants as soon as you enter. The Snack Bar in the photos isn’t in operation!!!! Management needs to goJust terrible Guest Services, Owner at Sonesta Select Tinton Falls Eatontown, responded to this review Dear Ellen,Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. We're sorry to hear that certain aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. The situation with the pool and surrounding area is not what we strive to offer our guests and will be looked into promptly. We also understand your concerns about the Snack Bar and are taking steps to address this. Your feedback on the use of disinfectants will also be evaluated to ensure a better balance. We appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention and hope there might be an opportunity to improve your experience in the future.

Soccer stay and it was fine

    rating26 Jun 2026

Stayed here for my daughter’s soccer tournament (it was one of the partner hotels, but was an hour drive away from the Somerset fields). Clean and comfortable room, with nicely appointed toiletries for the bathroom. A teammate needed the pullout couch and sheets were provided but no pillows. Safe and quiet area, walkable to pizza restaurant or a 5/6-min drive to shopping and fast casual food like chipotle. Friendly front desk staff and breakfast is available but nothing gets refilled after the meal is set out. Free parking and an outdoor pool that we did not use. The hallway rugs could be shampooed but the room is in working order and bed was fine.

    HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!

    rating11 May 2026

On May 9, I checked into the hotel in person, providing my debit card and driver’s license at the front desk. I also informed the front desk agent (“Sky”) that my adult daughter, would be arriving separately and provided her name due to our different last names. I was then issued two room keys and left the property for dinner.Later that day, my daughter arrived at approximately 5:00 PM. At that time, the front desk was staffed by a different employee (“Sarah”). My daughter was informed that she could not check into the room and was told that I had not properly checked in.While I was initially unavailable, I did not receive my daughter’s calls or messages until after she had already left the hotel and returned home. The purpose of reserving the room was to allow us to be closer to the area for an early morning commitment (approximately 6:00 AM), as we live about 2.5 hours away. When I returned to the hotel, I addressed the situation at the front desk and requested a refund. I was informed that no refund would be issued. I presented the room keys, but was told this did not confirm my check-in. I was also told that keys could be issued without an actual check-in, which was confusing and concerning.During this interaction, I requested clarification and the name of a manager. I was told a manager would contact me later, but no immediate resolution was provided. I was also not provided the manager’s name at that time. At one point, I was given a pen and paper to write down information myself, but communication remained unproductive. Sarah would not even provide the telephone number for the hotel, nor would she write my name and number down for the managerDue to escalating concerns and feeling unable to resolve the situation on-site, I ultimately contacted local authorities for assistance to ensure the matter remained calm and documented. Tinton Falls PD sent two-armed officers to the hotel, over $120 refundOn May 11, I contacted the hotel multiple times regarding this issue. On several calls, I was placed on hold or disconnected. When I was able to reach management, I was informed that no refund would be issued because I allegedly “yelled at the front desk.” I then spoke with the General Manager (“Ram”), who was dismissive and stated he would not discuss the matter further unless he first spoke with his front desk staff. On May 12, 2026, I called the hotel, yet again, and spoke to the manager Ram, who refused to provide his name other than RJ which he stated was his first and last name. He lied and said I entered the room at 11:47 am on May 9, 2026, I did not arrive at the hotel until 2:14 pm and NEVER stepped foot in the hotel room because Sarah took the keys away from me.I had to dispute with my bank Guest Services, Owner at Sonesta Select Tinton Falls Eatontown, responded to this review We regret the inconvenience caused by the lapses in service you experienced. While these mix-ups can sometimes occur, we regret that the situation wasn't resolved to your satisfaction. Your feedback helps us understand how we can improve communication and offer more solution-oriented service to our guests.
