LA Classic Done Right

I really enjoyed this hotel, which is well-run. The ambience is classic Hollywood which goes with the Swingers diner next door. The room is a real treat with authentic and also comfortable decor. I also loved the pool, which unlike even some expensive places, is heated (hooray!). The location is great and less pricey than many in WeHo. It’s quiet at night and easy to park on side streets although they have parking for $38 a night. Watch out for street cleaning Tues morn however or you’ll get towed. Mid century modern - clean and funky

I don't usually give a 5 star review to a 2 star motel property but this place is great. Nicely updated with authentic mid-century modern look and feel. If not for the flat screen TV on the wall you'd think it was the mid-60s. Counters, bed, phone, clock, everything authentic mid-century modern. Staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. Parking no charge except for the valet tip, a rare perk in LA. Vintage diner open next door till 3 am. Teriffic location a mile from La Brea tar pits, LACMA and the Motion Picture Academy Museum. Would definately stay here again if I have a reason to be in this part of LA. DO NOT STAY HERE! and Don't spend your money on a suite! Your windows face the alley and street so you pay extra for road and alley noise. My room smelled and was dingy and tired. The front desk staff was not helpful and condescending when questioned about the issues. Find another hotel! We loved this hotel! The 50/60's theme was wonderful! The staff were always very friendly and helpful. We found all areas/our room to be very clean. Parking was easy, and the hotel is in an excellent location...particularly for the Farmers Market. Would recommend to anyone. We had booked a room for 3 nights in January, then heard about the fires in LA. We contacted the hotel via email and phone to ask if we could cancel because of the dangerous situation. We were told on the phone that it would be ok to cancel but we should do the process via Agoda customer service. It took Agoda ages to reply (after checkin time), then they told us the hotel would NOT let us cancel and the booking remained valid. We then went to the hotel the next day - they told us they did NOT have a room for us, the booking had been cancelled on THEIR part and we would get a refund. We never got our money back, even after numerous calls and emails with the hotel AND Agoda. Worst customer service ever! Staff at hotel were extremely rude. I read some other reviews, this seems to be a recurring issue - they tell you it's fine to cancel, then never refund your money.... On the other hand, it might have been a blessing in disguise, since apparently the hotel has multiple issues (I also read about BED BUGS in other reviews...). Bottom line: Do not book there, do not stay there!
