the coolest cheap hotel in the area

was looking for something affordable and found this cool hotel on hotel tonight. it’s an older property and the rates are on par with a cheap motel but it was a way better choice. everything was clean and functional and the bed was comfortable. amenities are basic but there is a cool cocktail bar/restaurant downstairs called the edmon. it has a bit of a hostel feel though the bathrooms aren’t shared. would definitely come back. parking in the back lot is $18. and they don’t take a deposit for incidentals. two free bottles of water, too.

Had a lovely stay here. The restaurant and cafe downstairs are delicious. All the staff was kind and helpful, especially Michael at the front desk!

Great Stay at a Super Cool Hotel!!!

My friend and I were seeing an improv show up the street at The Groundlings so we decided to have a sleepover at the Hollywood Historic Hotel. What a great place!!! We had so much fun. The ambience of the hotel is so fun! The hotel was built in 1927 and has a classic feel to it. It's very clean and I'm sure has been remodeled but it maintains the artsy feel of Hollywood 100 years ago. The front desk agent, Michael, was a super nice guy - very accommodating, great sense of humor, and really engaging. He took the time to show my friend and me a video clip from the show Drunk History and it was hilarious. We stopped in twice at the Edmon Restaurant and Bar - once for happy hour, where we enjoyed delicious drinks (I had sangria and my friend had a "bee" cocktail) and super good nachos - and then again later in the night for a drink after the show. The next morning we had a delicious breakfast at Sweet Corner Coffee and Bakery right next door. We will definitely stay again!

bed bugs, very uncomfortable beds, broken shower door, pillows wrapped in plastic, no phone in rooms. Hotel manager MIA. Strange woman at reception during the day who could not care less about guest complaints. Part time maintenance, lots of noise from Melrose. Not single positive thing to report

This old hotel has been tastefully decorated. The rooms are basic but clean. Limited plug sockets, no coffee making facilities and chargeable parking. There is a bar which serves food and a coffee and cake shop attached to the hotel, so not far to go to get refreshments.
