Hilton have made this hotel less appealing

    rating03 Jun 2026

Just finished a 10 night stay in the Valorian. Previously stayed when it was the Mondrian and you can sense the difference which is not good. The hotel itself is beautiful and the cleaning staff was absolutely outstanding. Rooms are spacious and bathrooms are gorgeous also! The Pool area is very clean but we did not have a great experience here. First time we visited the pool there were 4 free beds which we tried to use but had been told by other guests that they were being held for friends. 45 minutes had passed and nobody turned up. We ended up getting different beds but during our entire time at the pool nobody came down to use the other beds! This should be monitored by staff as there are only 10-12 beds at the pool. The second time we visited the pool we lay down for 30 minutes and had then been asked to get up as they needed to rearrange the beds for an event. Another time we tried to use the pool facilities we could not as a commercial for Hilton was being filmed. This was very frustrating as you are paying fees to use these amenities and not being able to use them!! On that note on check out we had charges of over $1300, $750 worth of charges for parking which we had never made use of as we had no car during our stay. This was later resolved and thank you to the team for this. It was very frustrating not being notified on check in that there was daily fees so please take note of this as they add up quite quickly!! Over all hotel is stunning and in a great location but unfortunately will not be returning as the issues we had with the pool and the sour ending to the trip (being incorrectly charged) has not made us want to return in the future.

    Exceeded my expectations

    rating08 May 2026

I had a wonderful experience at the Valorian Hotel formally known as the Mondrian. I’ve been going here for a while but this time felt different the staff is amazing. Destiny the manager was so accommodating especially with the fact we were traveling as a family with 2 toddlers. First class experience. Definitely my favorite hotel in LA. Right off sunset is the most convenient location. 10/10 gerald dobard, General Manager at The Valorian Los Angeles, Curio Collection by Hilton, responded to this review Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review, and for choosing to stay with us at The Valorian! Poor Service Poor Amenities in a dated relic that needs a major overhaul.

    rating26 Apr 2026

The former Mondrian Hotel on Sunset Boulevard had its hey-day in the 1990s. The hotel was rebranded by Hilton and unfortunately its famous Yaacov Agam exterior was painted over a bland white, which suits what this hotel is today - an outdated relic with poor service and poorer amenities for too high a price. The rooms are small and not well-maintained. While the rooms facing South and West have great views of the city below, that is about all that is great about them. The bathrooms are poorly configured and adorned with wallpaper that is peeling from the walls and cheap blow dryers. The beds of are of moderate comfort. When the DJ plays in the restaurant below, you can hear it in your room even with the sliding doors closed. The lobby is dated and depressing. There is supposedly a concierge but we never saw this person and when we inquired at the desk we were told the concierge is not in. The desk staff is of minimal help. A hotel of this size should have a fully-functioning restaurant serving three meals a day. This one does not. When checking in you will be handed a sheet of paper describing the hotels features, which include the Casa Madera restaurant "open daily for breakfast from 7 to 11 am". Except it isn't open - something which apparently some members of the front desk staff are aware of while others are not. When I inquired about breakfast the desk clerk told me the restaurant was open. When I told him the doors were locked, he told me that couldn't be, until he walked over and tried them himself. If you want breakfast in the hotel you are relegated to the lobby where there is a small counter and a handful of tables where you are badly served with disposable coffee cups and plastic water cups. When I complained about this to the desk clerk who also said he was the manager, his answer was that the hotel has no control over the restaurant and they can't do anything about it. What???The fitness center is a tiny room with three treadmills and a small row of dumbbells. The hotel offers a pass to Equinox which is slightly less than a mile away. For the price of these rooms there are several choices in the same area which are much more well maintained in newer buildings with better service. The AKA, Andaz, and One Hotel are all proximate to this property with nicer views. Choose one of them instead. gerald dobard, General Manager at The Valorian Los Angeles, Curio Collection by Hilton, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. We are sorry to hear that your experience with us was less than satisfactory. We strive to create a fun and entertaining environment for all of our guests, and we are sorry this was not your experience. We appreciate your feedback. Thank you for choosing The Valorian.
