  Worst Best Western Ever?

  Worst experience at a Best Western ever. The staff at check in was unfriendly and focused on making me pay for charges that had not been clear at the time I made the reservation. The room was terrible. Phone was broken so I couldn't call the front desk when the temperature dropped during the night and I found the heater didn't work. Got dressed and walked to the front desk, and the same employee said he would come upstairs in 15 minutes to help me but he never came. I finally gave up on this miserable dump and left during the night.

  A Three-Night Charge for Ten Minutes on Property

  I booked a 3-night stay in November 2025 and checked in after midnight on the first night. The moment I opened the door, I knew something was wrong—the room looked nothing like the photos advertised online. The overall condition were so far off that I turned around and checked right back out.I was on the property for less than 10 minutes.The front desk instructed me to contact Agoda for a refund, so I did. For the past month, I’ve been stuck in a back-and-forth between Agoda and hotel management while my credit card shows a full charge for all 3 nights.Now the hotel is refusing a refund unless I provide photos as proof—which is absurd. I did not expect that a guest’s complaint would be treated like a legal deposition. I never imagined a Best Western property would require “photographic evidence” before honoring a customer’s word—especially when the issue is false or misleading representation of room conditions.In short: • Room didn’t match the advertised photos • I refused the room immediately • I did not stay the night • I was charged in full • I’m now being asked to prove it with photosIt is astounding to be charged hundreds of dollars for a room I rejected on arrival, and equally astonishing that the hotel’s response has been stonewalling rather than basic customer service.Travelers deserve better than a property that hides behind technicalities rather than standing behind what it advertises. I will never book here again, and I strongly suggest future guests proceed with caution.

  Not all best westerns are the same. I have not had good experience with best western hotels in southern California except the one in Palm Springs which was wonderful.

  Manager really made the stay noteworthy for us. From accommodating us when we arrived early, giving some personalized advice about where to visit the beach and where to eat lunch, offering to open up the pool. He really went out of the way to be inviting. Staff seemed like they actually liked working there which is unusual. The room was also above expectations on the end of the motel. It overlooked the freeway, but the noise dampening was terrific, the balcony, large size, hardwood flooring, and strong AC were appreciated. Food across the street was nice. Kids enjoyed the pool both days, but the spa is not heated if that's important to you. There is a nice park next door with perhaps the most elaborate play structure I've ever seen.
