Smokey The Bear, would not sleep here.

    rating21 Feb 2025

I talked with the woman at the front desk on the phone before booking here and she was very friendly. The same woman assisted me at check in the following day, she was friendly, cheerful and handed me a complementary bottle of water.Unfortunately, that was the highlight of my experience here. The room I was placed in smelled like cigarette smoke, it gave me a headache and hurt my chest the two nights I stayed here. I rank it as one of the top ten worst smelling rooms I have stayed in from any hotel or motel chains within the past nine months across America. However I have to accept the blame, because after returning to the Choice App and reviewing the amnesties and policies at this location there in no mention of the rooms being non-smoking or smoking. There is also no where in the room that states non-smoking.I now understand why this motel is almost always booked up. It’s relatively cheap and it’s the only Smoker’s motel I have seen before. I just assumed that it would be non-smoking.Thankfully, I only booked two nights here, and I carry an air purifier with me (It made it more tolerable, but when I left, everything including myself smelled like smoke”.The WiFi was fast enough, but the first night kept failing about every fifteen minutes. The photos of the rooms in the app and website physically match the room, other than size. The room looks fifty percent bigger on the app. In reality, this is one of the smallest room I’ve stayed in Across America. The toilet was very low to the floor and small like a children’s toilet. There are no luggage carts, no elevator, no laundry facilities on the premises except those used by their cleaning people. It had a fairly large mini-fridge with a separated freezer section, but since there is no microwave, the freezer section might only be good for ice-cream.There is a surprising large pool on the north side of the building. A soda machine with very fair pricing, and an ice machine at the bottom of the stairs by the pool. There is also a small outdoor eating area with umbrellas. The parking lot has some relatively large spaces that can accommodate van, pickups and large SUV.The furnishings are nice, lots of lamps, though the room is still on the darker side for some reason. The queen bed is a basic spring bed on the firmer side. Not especially comfortable. There were three normal pillows on the bed, the cheap kind my parents used to buy, the kind that go flat eventually. These pillows are the flattest pillows of any motel or hotel I have stayed in across America. They’re as flat as pillows someone has been using for ten years.I could easily hear people talking in the rooms while walking past door and I could hear considerable traffic noise despite having an air purifier next to my head and the heater/ac on near the entrance. The room had a work table with a single solid and padded wheel-less chair. A table with two chairs that would be perfect for a game of chess.I would never book a room here again. At check out a man was working. He asked me how I enjoyed my stay, I told him, “not that much, I didn’t know this was a smoking motel”, he told me, “We’re a non-smoking motel”. I asked him why the app or website, doesn’t mention, “Non-Smoking”, and why no where around or in the building does it mention, “Non-smoking”. He just replied, “All of our rooms are non-smoking”.

    Acceptable room, clean property

    rating07 Oct 2024

This was an acceptable property for our needs. The room was clean. It is an older property, so don’t expect top of the line accommodations. The pillows could use replacing, as could the mattress. The water was hot, but the faucet really didn’t work very well when trying to get a shower and getting the water to come out the shower head. The pool was locked up, so I’m guessing it’s not open at this time of year, even though it was very hot and would have been okay to swim in. There is only coffee in the AM, not other type of breakfast fare, but you get 10% off the restaurant next door by showing your room key. Would stay again if in the area.

    Go somewhere else

    rating20 Jan 2024

It was the most horrible Inn we ever stayed at. Had a 3 double bed room that was next to the laundry room which was making a lot of noise when we checked in at 9pm. It was noisy all night - sounded like a generator. The heater in the room also made a high pitch noise. In the end we were not able to use the heater due the noise and it was winter! We were unable to ring the office as the room phone doesn’t work. Had to physically go down to complain which was pointless as they were not able to fix the heater ( public holiday long weekend - no handyman or service repair) and to add to the insult, I was told it's the first time there is a complaint about the 'generator' noise. Not once did they apologise for the state of the room or investigate the noise. The room was very old and dated. The bathroom was in a terrible state and needs a total revamp. The walls were literally wet after a shower as the condensation cannot be removed by the non functioning fan. We would have changed hotel but as it was holiday season and everything was booked out or not have the bed configuration we wanted we had no choice. I did not sleep well for 3 nights. Because of the location of the room, wifi was non-existent. The only thing positive is that it is located opposite the mall.

    Basic but Good Value

    rating13 Jun 2023

Been here before and found it relatively clean and comfortable. It can be a little noisy with a busy street nearby and sometimes noisy visitors and families running around above. There are a couple of others nearby that I prefer but for the price, this is about the best you'll find. The Vagabond next door is slightly nicer but often charges $20-$50 more a night these days. The Americana Mall is across the street and the Foxy's restaurant next door is a fun classic American diner with reasonable prices (for LA, anyways).

    rating26 Apr 2023

The Hotel is located in a perfect and nice location. A block away from the Americana and Glendale Galleria and tons of restaurants near by. It super affordable and comfortable. The rooms are nice and front desk service is the best. Will always look forward in staying here again.
