    Helpful staff; bathroom too modern

    rating01 May 2026

I stayed here at the recommendation of a friend. When I decided before arriving to extend my stay, I couldn't figure out how to do it online so called them up and the woman I spoke with was very helpful in booking another night. When I arrived, everything seemed ok until I got to the room overlooking the busy 101 freeway. I immediately trooped my bags all the way back to reception to explain I'd discussed this very thing on the phone with their staff. Fortunately a manager was on duty and assigned me another room away from the noise. The bathroom design has some issues. There's a motion sensor light which is convenient during the day but is awfully bright in the middle of the night. I couldn't find an off switch for it, so I jury-rigged a blocker using the Kleenex box, a decorative tray and a washcloth to block the sensor. The shower is a rain showerhead which only had one setting. Additionally, there is only half of a glass partition -- no door! -- for the stall, so the bathroom floor got pretty wet. At least it has a safety grab bar, which I used to drape my towel on since nothing else was easily in reach. It wasn't all bad. I was able to turn the AC off and the room was fine without it in April. When I couldn't get the TV to work, they sent up their maintenance guy, who found that the Roku sensor had been hidden behind the TV, blocking the signal (I'd never used a Roku before so didn't know about the sensor).I didn't realize that their breakfast- only food service didn't open until 7:00am. I got there at 6:50 and the girl who was setting up sold me a muffin anyway.Several restaurants and bank ATMs are within a 5-minute walk, so that was convenient.

It's the little things (wrong) that make a great stay.

    rating26 Apr 2026

Have been a guest here for many years. Great location. Lots of dining and shopping in the area. Since "New" owners have taken over the property ( Ayres Hotels) do you think it would be possible to have a note pad and pen, next to the phones in each room ? It's such a little thing, like Toilet Paper; an essential item; for jotting down a phone # or address, etc. There must be a case of Ayres Hotel division paper pads available. When I asked at the front desk, they handed me some 8 x 11 copier paper and a lobby pen. It's the little things. Would it be TOO Much for the Front Desk to keep some cash ( for change) there ? I wanted to break a $20, so that I could leave a $5 for the housekeeping staff. Sorry, no cash or change available. Housekeepers get stiffed. Sorry. The place was clean overall. However, there was no water available for showering for a couple of hours, and we were not informed in advance. Additionally, we had to request another room for the children because the AC was not working. Request a third floor room opposite side of the pool

    rating19 Apr 2026

Request a third floor room I stayed on the first floor. It was so loud the people above me you can hear walking constantly you can hear their alarm. I complained to the front desk and they didn’t really care so It is obviously an issue. Also one morning the music was so loud outside my room because I look onto the pool that was being repaired. They accidentally turned on the music so don’t request a pool room. It’s very loud too.Other than the noise, it is a nice hotel for the price General Manager, Owner at The Anza Hotel, responded to this review Dear Valued Guest,Thank you for taking the time to write a review based on your recent stay. Try to get a response after you check.out

    rating22 Mar 2026

Hotel was nice, clean. Polite staff. Unfortunately I forgot some clothing and it took 2 weeks of calls and.online report before we just went there to collect the things. Couldn't get a callback from housekeeping (in xha4ge of the lost and found) despite numerous calls. Very disappointing.
