    DON'T STAY HERE

The pictures online look nice, but in person it is the opposite. The rooms are not clean, the, there is no "Complimentary" breakfast. The front counter person was nice, but ineffective.

    Not great experience

    rating25 Sept 2025

Arrived in room at 3:15 pm noticed immediately that the TV did not work. I called the front desk. The guy came within 15 minutes and told me he couldn’t fix it, but the maintenance man would come. Never cameI was awakened in the middle of the night by people talking very loudly in the room next to me, at 5 am there was a man standing right outside of my room, singing, a crack cocaine song, and another gentleman, yelling, Viva, La Raza, and other phrases in Spanish.. I looked out and could tell they were two homeless guys that were in the room next to me.Upon checking out, at 6:30 am I told the gentleman at the desk about the TV that didn’t work.. and was attempting to tell him about the homeless guys, but I could see he wasn’t interested in listening to anything I had to say he just shhugged his shoulders. The bed was terrible, high in the center and collapsing towards the edges. The room was basically clean. I travel to Costa Mesa several times a year, I won’t be staying there again

Vagabond Inn Review - A Warning

    rating15 Jul 2025

We booked this hotel through Hotels.com based on the photos and description, but the reality was drastically different — and honestly, pretty concerning. When we arrived, we were given a key to Room 1. Upon opening the door, we were immediately hit with a strong musty/moldy smell. The furniture and walls looked dirty and neglected, and the bathroom had visible black mold around the baseboards, along with signs of water damage that still appeared wet. We didn’t feel it was a safe or healthy environment for our kids.We went back to the front desk and spoke with Aaron, who was kind and understanding. He offered us another room to try. Unfortunately, the second room smelled strongly of cigarettes and marijuana, despite clearly being marked non-smoking. It was hot inside with no thermostat — it looked like it had been removed and never replaced. This room also had mold in the corner of the bathroom ceiling, and even worse, we found what appeared to be blood stains on the walls both inside and outside the room.We immediately returned to the front desk and asked for a refund, only to be told that no manager is on site Friday through Sunday, which seemed odd given those are peak days for hotel stays. We left the property and booked a different hotel. After multiple follow-ups with Hotels.com, we were told the manager finally responded — and refused to issue a refund, even though we never stayed the night and returned the key right away. This hotel is misrepresented online and appears to be in serious need of a health and safety inspection. I strongly urge others to think twice before booking here — especially families with children.

    Non- functional outlets

    rating12 Feb 2025

The room was ok except for the air conditioning that was not working during the day as there was no thermostat to control the temperature . The most inconvenient thing was how the power outlets would go out every now and then including the ones for the fridge and the microwave making it hard to warm up or store food . Housekeeping was done everyday so that is a plus .

I have stayed here for business projects and it is the best deal in town. Rooms have frig and microwave oven for food/beverage, and staff are accommodating for various requests. It is ideal located off the 405 freeway on Harbor and plenty of food options and grocery within walking distance. Walikng distance to Hooters.
