A 4 star hotel with no Room Service- This place is not premium as advertised.

    rating29 May 2026

    1. When I booked a King Ocean View Room from 5/23-5/27, the confirmed total was $1,960.2. My fiance and I arrived from the west coast at 11:00 p.m. on 5/23 and we rented a car to check out some properties in the area so we valet parked. After requesting my bill when we returned home, I learned they charged $160 per day for Sun and Mon then $80 per day for Tues. and Wed totaling $480. Completely outrageous and the parking prices were not disclosed anywhere otherwise, I would have Ubered.3. When we arrived at 11:00 PM, we were told unapologetically that the only food option was a food truck out back selling burgers and fries. This hotel advertised room service online. That is false. There is on room service at all. I literally thought the unhelpful unapologetic girl at reception was joking until I was eating a greasy a la carte $20 burger with no fries. 4. Upon check-in the room upgrade was a renovated room. The Platinum card specifies and all other hotels honor an upgrade in room class so we did not receive an upgrade although the view was nice and the room was good near the top floor of the tower.5. The downside to the room was there no coffee maker or fridge for food or drinks in the room. This coupled with the long wait at the only morning spot to buy coffee at the cafe in the lobby made for me walking and waiting 30-40 minutes every morning for two black coffees. 6. The restaurants are outrageously expensive. Breakfast buffet for 2 was $48 each and it was a tiny buffet. With tax and service fee and additional tip it was $150 for 2.7. Dinners were also outrageously expensive. We had a casual meal at the Grill under the lobby. The pasta comes a la carte and you have to pay more to add a protein. Entres were also a la carte. A simple chicken breast in lemon sauce came with nothing. We had to buy a side of broccolini for $15 making a basic dish almost $50. Add a bottle of sparkling water and fries with tax tip and service fee and a simple bar and grill casual meal cost $150. We ate at the steakhouse too. The petite filet was tiny like 4 oz with one tiny tidbit of shitake mushroom cooked down for $65. My fiance had dry chicken. The asian beet pair salad was the best thing we ate at the hotel over 4 nights. That meal with one $15 glass of rose each and 1 desert was $340. Finally we tried the Chinese restaurant Hakkasan which is purportedly a Mich starred restaurant but we were not impressed. The dim sum was good but one order is 8 pieces and too big for one person. We thought it was 4 pieces and each ordered a full order. It was just too much but the waiter didn't guide us instead he upsold us fried rice which we were too full to eat. Again the beef entre was $65. With two soups and hot tea and no alcohol, that meal was another $350 which was probably more acceptable due to the level of elevated food but compared to other Mich starred places we dined at, it would be dead last. In short, eating only 5 meals there with morning coffee 3 days and one late night food truck experience cost well over $1300. 8. There are a lot of pools hot tubs and chairs on the beach and around the pools but we had no help from pool or beach towel/chair people anytime we went down. 2 frozen drinks with service fee tax and tip was $75. Again outrageous gouging.9. Some younger staff in the hotel were mostly clueless and too lazy to help. They didn't know basic facts of the hotel like Mirabella was closed Mon and Tues or when the gym opened etc. The guy making omelettes literally asked me what was in a Denver omelette. Also never received a final bill by email after checkout which I asked for 2 days after returning to discover the parking rate theft.10. I was double charged for a meal. I used my Amex card for a couple of meals and for one dinner they charged my room bill and the card so I had to contest the charge.11. They charged me twice for the initial room deposit of $546 and had to refund one of the charges.12. I've stayed at fine hotels all over the world including 4 Seasons, Andaz, Nobu etc. and expect to pay premiums for food and drinks and even $40 or $50 a night for valet parking but this place just gouges its guests. 13. I emailed every email address I could find to discuss the billing problems and the parking gouging including executive team, guest services etc and either the email bounced back or I received no responses. I also called and couldn't get a manger on the phone.14. The final bill was double the original estimate and I paid for two meals directly on my credit card.Overall, the 5 star hotel this place claims is completely false and misleading. This is not a 5 star hotel. It is a 4 star hotel and without room service or coffee with the price gouging and lack of any professional management accountability, I would not recommend the hotel. Stay at Nobu or Four Seasons for the premium experience you expect from a 5 start hotel instead! For adults but families are welcomed.

We had a wonderful stay at Fontainebleau Miami Beach. The hotel was very nice, our room (633) was clean, set up well, and ready to go when we arrived.A special shoutout to Michael in Bell Services. He was magnificent — very personable, professional, and just an all-around good guy. He truly knows how to talk to people and make guests feel welcomed. Keep hiring people like Michael, and I will gladly continue staying here anytime I visit Miami. The only thing I would change is the pool closing at dusk. For our family, we tend to enjoy the pool more later in the afternoon once the sun goes down because the daytime heat can be a lot. Of course, I understand rules are rules — just something I wanted to mention as feedback.Overall, we had a great experience and appreciated the hospitality. Angel Gil, Owner at Fontainebleau Miami Beach, responded to this review Dear mrswolverine,Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback!
