    Very disrespectful staff even though you are paying them. Stay elsewhere for cheaper. Would not want to stay more than one night due to the mouldy rooms.

    Quirky, rooms are clean, ask for the remote at the desk, ours wasn't programmed googled it and it was an easy fix, very close to beach and shopping, staff friendly, do not get rooms by elevator a little noisy elevator is older type, also weird vent in our room directly to hall so...no "horseplay" unless you want the whole hall to hear and let light in all night (see pic)

    One might expect to have a peaceful and relaxing stay in a hotel, particularly in South Beach; however, my experience at the James Hotel in Miami, FL, was quite the opposite. I arrived at approximately 3:30 PM on December 13, 2025, hoping to receive my room thirty minutes prior to the 4:00 PM check-in time (Confirmation # 9078866105381, initials J.A.). The receptionist, who introduced herself as the "daughter of the hotel's owner," informed me she would impose a $10 fee for storing my bag, even for a few minutes, a $10 fee for "early" parking, and a $50 fee for early check-in. Interestingly, the lobby was empty, there was only one car in the parking lot, and it was only a few minutes before the check-in time of 4:00 PM. Furthermore, she mentioned a $50 per hour charge for late check-out. Her condescending and harsh demeanor was clearly intended to intimidate me, ultimately ruining my weekend. While I understand hotels have their policies, this kind of rude behavior towards a paying guest is unacceptable and not a proper way to conduct business. This individual's inappropriate behavior and condescending attitude are intolerable. Guests should not be treated in such a manner. It is particularly concerning as she claimed to be the "daughter of the owner" and threatened to cancel my reservation when I inquired about her name, which she refused to provide. Although the room rate was relatively modest and the additional charges minimal, I see no reason to patronize this hotel. It is a fact that the hospitality industry is struggling and having a difficult time coping. I don't like writing negative reviews --- but, this is something that everybody should know about. Thank goodness AMEX Travel was able to cancel my booking and helped me through this ordeal. Lastly, this James Hotel doesn't even look like it has clean & nice rooms since everything seems deary from the outside and at the lobby. I decided to take the next flight back to NYC since I cannot possibly stay in South Beach with this unsettling experience in my mind.

    I arrived by bicycle and learned that I could not bring my bike into the room or lock it in the hotels large storage room or even lock it outside. The hotel cancelled my two night stay. I was on a ride from Richmond VA to Miami Fl – over a month – not one hotel ever turned me away on this trip or on bike trips all over the country and the world. Apparently, they were afraid of liability. The male desk clerk was rude and I fear this hotel could have other poorly thought out and undisclosed policies. I advise you to look elsewhere and avoid such problems.

    Beds are comfortable, simple rooms, but functional. The hotel is unique, you cann't image. The staff were super friendly, parking places, in the morning at 8 am there was an old man in the lobby with coffee and donuts. Unfortunately we did not had two rooms next to each other (as requested) but far from each other. But all it was a wonderful experience to stay in this hotel
