  Great location in the south of fifth neighborhood. Close to the beach and multiple great restaurants. Liked hotel’s reception area with the coffee shop and attached bar which had a nice vibe. However, the hotel is basic and in need of renovation as appears a bit worn out. Simply painting the rooms/doors and replacing the carpet in corridors would do much good. The pool is very small. Front desk staff is available only during the day and I found them courteous and helpful. The room was clean overall but quality of towels, soaps/shampoo can be better, even for a 3-star hotel. Overall, would come back to stay for few nights if the price is right but The Meridian Hotel can be much better with relatively small adjustments.

  Very friendly and accommodating. They kept our luggage upon check in while we were waiting for our rooms to be ready. Rooms were clean and well furnished.

  I booked 8 nights at the Meridian based on the “glowing “ reviews and photos of the hotel. I am truly mystified why people love this place!Wow,where to start? If you value a good night’s sleep then this is not the hotel for you.It was truly the worst hotel I have ever stayed at,not even at hostel level.My son and I arrived after reception had closed at 4pm,we were exhausted,starving and had been travelling all day and just wanted to get into our room and rest.There was thumping music at the bar,there was only a sign at the reception desk saying to check yourself in with a number to contact if needed.Well apparently I should have received an email or text with instructions on how to check in which I never received.I rang and messaged the number provided but there was only a recorded message saying they’d get back to me.We were panicking by this stage as it was getting late and we were beside ourselves with tiredness.I contacted my travel agent in Australia to see if she could help me.I asked the bartender about checking in and he said it had nothing to do with the bar and to call the number.He was completely indifferent and almost amused by my distress.I asked another guest to help me because it seemed as though we would have to sleep in the foyer because there was no response from the number.This beautiful kind lady saw my distress and messaged and called the manager for me,we were waiting for hours in the foyer area,I ended up in tears because of the immense stress it caused me and my son.Eventually I received a link to answer some questions about myself before I could receive the code to open the door,I was trying to fill the form in but it wouldn’t allow me to put in the dates for my stay,without that I couldn’t proceed,so again I was stuck.The lady couldn’t work it out either.Eventually they sent her a code to open the door to our room.The code didn’t work.Tried countless times,nothing.Eventually they sent a maintenance man who was lovely but only spoke Spanish.I’m from Australia and don’t speak Spanish unfortunately.He opened the door and we went into our room which was stark,basic,bare and very depressing,the thought of staying there for 8 nights deeply saddened me.In the bathroom were two pairs of men’s underpants on the back of the door.The sheets and towels were thin and very scratchy.The room adjoined the bar which thumped loud music with loud voices talking,laughing and yelling all night.We did not get any sleep at all.Next morning I asked to be moved to another room.We were moved to the second floor,the hallway carpet seemed damp with an overpowering smell of mould.This room was not clean and there were hairs everywhere and floors were dirty.Upstairs in the room above us was a family of elephants wearing high-heeled boots,they literally walked back and forth all night and all day clanging,thumping and dropping things. The noise level was absolutely ridiculous and we were woken CONSTANTLY every single night.The people in the room next door had their tv turned up full blast every night,the walls and ceilings are paper thin.One night a dog in one of the rooms must have been left alone while his owner was out all night and he literally howled ALL night.The rooms are run down and in desperate need of renovations.The toilets would not flush without me pouring water into the bowl.From the minute we got to the Meridian hotel we were counting down the days until we could leave and go home.It absolutely ruined our Miami trip and we left stressed and sleep deprived.I haven’t even mentioned that the lift was broken down for several days so we had to take the stairs,which was annoying when it came time to carry our luggage down.Maintenance man saw us but couldn’t be bothered helping us.The cafe/bar downstairs had baristas who were unfriendly and stone faced and many times the coffee machine was broken.We paid a lot of money for our stay at the Meridian and it was a complete waste.DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!!!!

  Don’t stay here if you have a car to park. We got in at 9:00 PM. Apparently after 4, the only way to communicate with the hotel is by text. They supposedly offer valet parking for $30/ day. I don’t know if they don’t valet park after 4 PM or had no parking left, but they told us to go to parking garage 3 blocks away. The car was there from 10 PM to 7 AM. The cost was $90 freaking dollars.

  Worst Hotel Ever

  I travel a lot and am an Expedia Platinum member. This is one of the worst hotels I've stayed at. I don't understand all these reviews as I booked it because of that. It's not a 4 star hotel- more like a 2 star. I stayed in November. As soon as I checked into my room, I noticed that the walls were dirty and have marks on it, there was a hole in the bathroom wall, hair on the floor and walls that were obviously not mine, and towels had marks and stains on them. The towel shelving, garbage can & desk had rust on it and the chair had stains. Not to mention the shower water pressure sucked and the toilet wouldn't flush properly. I asked them to clean the room at certain days and they came on the days I did not say to come, so I wasn't prepared to lock up my things. Very run down and disgusting, they make a Best Western look luxury. Unfortunately I booked the last room, and non refundable so its not like I could get a different room/book another hotel w/o paying more. They also said they would refund me half of my stay if I don't write a bad review, but they never gave me a refund, so here we are. Do not recommend booking this hotel at all.
