    Damp floors, pricey parking

    rating19 Jun 2026

Hampton Inn is one of our chains of choice when we travel, and we're usually pretty happy with our stay. This one came up a little short. First off, they have their own parking lot but you have to pay (a fortune) to park. When we got to our room, we discovered the entire floor was a little damp, like it had been shampooed recently. And closer to the air conditioning unit, the carpet was downright sodden. There was also a lampshade missing from a wall sconce. We got multiple texts asking how our stay was so finally I mentioned the wet carpet and the lampshade. The manager said to come by the desk "for compensation." So I did. When I identified myself, the manager said brusquely, "Give me 5 minutes." I waited while he worked on his computer. But then another couple came up to him and he proceeded to help them rather than helping me since I'd been waiting. Not sure what the compensation was, but I didn't want to waste my time standing around so I gave up. My husband ended up having a horrible allergy attack from the damp conditions in the room, I'm sure that mold or mildew was starting to grow. While in the lobby I heard another guest complaining about the same wet carpet issue in their room, so obviously they have some maintenance to do! Just not the caliber of stay we're used to at the Hampton Inn! General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hampton Inn & Suites Nashville-Vanderbilt-Elliston Place, responded to this review Thank you, Jessica, for taking the time to share such a detailed account of your experience. We are sorry that this visit left you feeling disappointed, especially given how much you have enjoyed other stays with Hampton Inn properties. The condition of your room’s flooring and the missing lampshade are concerns we take seriously, and we will share your feedback with both our housekeeping and engineering teams. The interaction you described at the front desk does not reflect the considerate service we want to provide. It is also clear that the damp carpet created real discomfort for you and your husband, and we understand how frustrating that must have been. Our team is committed to getting to the bottom of these issues to prevent them from impacting other guests. We appreciate you letting us know what happened, and we hope you will give us another chance to provide the reliable experience you expect.

    Would not visit again.

    rating14 Jun 2026

I was very disappointed that I had to pay $42.53 to park in the hotel parking lot. The bath soap and conditioner were either not working or out in the shower. The bath towels you dried off on smelled sour. General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hampton Inn & Suites Nashville-Vanderbilt-Elliston Place, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, J5367GJtriciac. We are sorry to hear that your visit raised concerns about parking charges and the condition of your room, as well as the experience with our amenities. Our housekeeping and engineering teams will be reviewing these matters closely, as this is not the impression we want to leave. We appreciate you letting us know and are grateful for the opportunity to improve.

Really bad, staff only does the minimum

    rating13 Jun 2026

We stay at Hampton Inns most of the time when traveling. I thought this would be a nice hotel since it's in the Vanderbilt/West End area in Nashville. This place is not that old, but it's worn out. My guess is there's been too many rowdy football fans coming through. The staff is not that great, either. I get the impression they are doing the bare minimum. When I checked in, the clerk was unpacking a lot of boxes out in the lobby. There were also a number of boxes piled up around the back of the check in area. It just wasn't very neat looking. A stack of souvenir T-shirts were wadded up on a shelf, which desperately needed attention. I know there may have been a reason for the poor state of the lobby, but I just got a bad feeling the moment I stepped in the building. There was a huge rip in the wallpaper next to the elevator. The elevator floor indicator lights also didn't work. Now for our room. The 2 queen beds sagged so bad we thought we would roll onto the floor if we got close to the edge. There was no drain stopper in the tub and water still backed up. There was only 1/4 of a roll of toilet paper and no spare. I'm glad I brought my hair dryer as there wasn't one in the bathroom. I had to ask for a plastic laundry bag and the head housekeeper practically threw them at me as she ran past.Breakfast was ok, but nothing special at all. It just wasn't laid out in a very welcoming manner.I didn't know until I arrived there was a fee for parking. I did see that it's listed on the website, but it was waaay down the page, plus I just wasn't expecting to have to look for the price of parking. It also seemed to be done through a separate company, not the hotel. I found that strange. It was outrageous. It states $35 per night, but after taxes, etc. I was charged over $42. I've never understood why this is not included in my price to stay at the hotel. Needless to say, we will never stay here again. We will be making numerous trips to Vanderbilt Medical Center in the upcoming months, but we'll make sure to get a better hotel with stellar reviews. I'm sure there's one nearby that can certainly beat this Hampton Inn. General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hampton Inn & Suites Nashville-Vanderbilt-Elliston Place, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed account of your experience, ladybd. It's clear you had a disappointing visit, and we are truly sorry that multiple aspects of your stay fell short of your expectations. The condition of your room, the overall feel in our lobby, and your impressions of the environment did not provide the comfort or welcome we strive to create. We also regret that your interactions with our team did not feel attentive or caring. This is something our Guest Relations and housekeeping teams take seriously, as every guest deserves to feel valued from arrival to departure. The maintenance and appearance issues you described, along with the experience you had during check-in and throughout your visit, are concerning and will be shared with the appropriate departments. We understand how important clarity around fees is, and we are sorry for any frustration or surprise regarding parking charges and their placement online. Your feedback helps us identify where real changes are needed.Thank you again for being so forthright. We are grateful for the opportunity to improve and wish you all the best on your upcoming trips to Nashville.

    Horrible

    rating13 Jun 2026

We stayed 6/13 weekend. My first thought walking in the lobby no one greeted as we walked in.Hospitality definitely not there strongest. As we got in the room and opened the door , the smell was just horrible.Smelled musty, and like urine. We thought maybe lowering the ac would help.I sprayed air freshener Thinking maybe it’s that the room wasn’t in use for a while. After turning the ac on.The cold was like wet .I looked up at the ceiling definitely they had water spots and chipping of the paint . So I wouldn’t be surprised it had mold in the walls somewhere. Water or urine spots in the carpet. The mattress on the bed was horrible! You could feel the wires from the sides.Seem like the mattress was picked off of the side of the road!We had an extra fridge sitting on the floor in the room. Not sure why? If you get this #308 just know the ice machine doesn’t work. But makes noise all day all night. Not sore why they don’t just unplug it. Walls are definitely thin.Wall paper peeling. Now the shower! You will get hot water! But the bottom of the tub was horrible it was ruff had to shower with my crocs on! The food basic bland and boring. Barely consumable. 1 waffle maker for entire hotel. The lobby was hot no ac blowing. So enjoy your food while sweating! Being, that the area is in Vanderbilt. You think it would be decent!Since we were out in about just needed a place to sleep. We sucked it up.As we were packing I looked over and seen the tall dresser have mold on it. Makes sense why my throat was becoming itchy. Wouldn’t be surprised if the ac unit has finding of mold! This place definitely needs a remolding A.S.A.P! I believe as long as they have some customers they are happy with that. With a big name “Hilton” this is embarrassing. I think our stay would have been better at a motel 6! “Definitely will change to Marriott!” If you see any good reviews I’m sure it’s family and friends of the employees! General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hampton Inn & Suites Nashville-Vanderbilt-Elliston Place, responded to this review Thank you for sharing such a thorough account of your experience, yenic700. We are genuinely sorry for the many issues you described, from your arrival through your time in your guest room as well as in other areas of the property. The conditions you mentioned, especially regarding odors and what you observed in your room, are deeply concerning and are being addressed with both our housekeeping and engineering teams. It's clear that we did not provide the quality, comfort, or hospitality that we promise our guests. The feelings of discomfort and disappointment you experienced are not acceptable, and we are very sorry your stay was affected in this way.We appreciate you taking the time to outline these concerns so clearly. Your feedback will be used to inform our efforts to make improvements to the property and guest experience.

    Parking ripoff

    rating11 Jun 2026

Checked in at midnight after a long day at Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital dealing with my son's serious injury. Parking lot was very dark and only had one spot left so I did not notice the signs for paid parking. When I came out to leave at 7am, I could then see the signs about paid parking and subsequently found a yellow "parking invoice" from ParkHappyLLC on my windshield which said "You were parked in violation of our Terms and Conditions". I scanned the QR code to find that my bill was $76. The hotel clerk later said the normal fee was $42.50 (which is only posted in the fine print of the hotel website with no details on how to pay, penalties, etc.). I left my phone and email on the ParkHappyLLC contact site but never received a reply. The signs do not declare any "terms and conditions", fees, penalties, or any other info. Turns out the LLC is being sued for myriad illegal and unethical business practices in a class action case filed in November 2025 and which I am not a party to as well. I complained to the hotel manager and cannot believe Hilton would be associated with such a nasty, predatory business. It's not like there were roaming guards, valets, or anything worth freaking $42.50 to park for 7 hours. Oh, and the hotel needs upgrades and some serious cleaning. General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hampton Inn & Suites Nashville-Vanderbilt-Elliston Place, responded to this review We are truly sorry for the stress and frustration you experienced, especially after a long and difficult day at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital with your son’s injury. This is not the experience we want for any guest, and we understand how upsetting the parking situation and unexpected charges must have been. We also regret the lack of clarity around signage and payment information, as well as the difficulty you had in getting a response from the parking provider. Your feedback has been shared with our team so we can review both our communication and overall guest experience, and we appreciate you taking the time to bring this to our attention.
