Save your money - Extremely Disappointing Experience

    rating24 May 2026

We had the unfortunate experience of dining at the Higgins on Saturday evening. This is an absolutely beautiful venue, which makes it even more disappointing that our experience was a complete failure for all five of us.We are seasoned travelers who dine out regularly and had reservations for a party of six, although only five were ultimately able to attend. Despite arriving on time, we waited an extended period just to be acknowledged at the podium. We were then directed to a six-top table that already had two guests seated there. We were surprised that there was apparently no available table for our confirmed reservation — especially considering there was another six-top occupied by only two people and more than ten empty two-top tables throughout the restaurant. While communal seating may be common in some European establishments, it is certainly not what one expects at a restaurant of this caliber. Even more confusing, there were not enough seats available at the table they initially attempted to seat us at. After an awkward standoff between our group, the hostess, and the seated guests, the couple graciously offered to move themselves to another table.Once seated, service continued to disappoint. We struggled just to receive two additional glasses of water (as there was only three glasses of water on the table for five guests), and the couple who had moved tables ultimately brought us the extra glasses from their own table. No water refills were ever offered during the meal.Four of us ordered the lobster bisque, while one ordered a salad. The bisque arrived lukewarm at best. One member of our party sent hers back to be reheated, but it did not return until she flagged someone down more than 15 minutes later — and it was still lukewarm. The rest of us ate ours only because we were hungry. My salad was properly cold, thankfully, but arrived with little to no dressing, and I was unable to get anyone’s attention to correct it.When the entrees finally arrived, the redfish dishes were also barely warm, with the fish nearly at room temperature. Another member of our party ordered the veal but instead received an extremely dry, lukewarm stuffed chicken dish. My husband and I were unable to eat our meals, and the others simply picked at theirs. We voiced our concerns multiple times throughout the evening, yet they seemed to fall on deaf ears. Not one of the four staff members we spoke with appeared concerned or interested in resolving the issues.I will say the lemon meringue tart was delicious. Unfortunately, we expected the rest of the meal to reflect the same quality, and it simply did not. More disappointing still was the complete lack of concern or accountability from the staff. This venue has tremendous potential, but on this occasion, it failed miserably. General Manager, General Manager at The Higgins Hotel New Orleans, Curio Collection By Hilton, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to share this candid feedback. What should have been a memorable evening in such a special setting clearly missed the mark in several important ways, and we are truly sorry that your dinner left your group feeling frustrated and overlooked from start to finish. From the confusion surrounding your reservation to the pacing of service and the lack of attentiveness when concerns were raised throughout the evening, we understand how disappointing this must have felt, especially for a celebratory night out with family and friends. We appreciate you recognizing the beauty of the venue and the lemon meringue tart, though we know those moments alone could not make up for the overall experience you described. Your comments have been shared directly with our restaurant leadership team, as this is not the level of hospitality or care we want associated with a visit here, and we appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention.

Another great stay at the Higgins

    rating28 Apr 2026

This was our second trip in as many years to visit the World War II museum.Of course, we stayed at the Higgins! We enjoyed the views from our 5th story rooms - highly recommended. We purchased their “bed and breakfast” package, which includes their wonderful full breakfast in the café Normandy. The dishes were beautifully prepared and delicious! Their concierge, James, is outstanding, and will be more than happy to arrange tours, dinners, trips, and transportation.Decor is vintage 40s, and even the music in the lobbies is vintage New Orleans. Highly recommend especially if you’re visiting the incredible WWII museum complex (allow 2days).👍👍 General Manager, General Manager at The Higgins Hotel New Orleans, Curio Collection By Hilton, responded to this review Thank you for sharing your continued loyalty and such a thoughtful review of your stay. It’s wonderful to hear your return visit felt just as memorable, with the views from your room adding to your experience and our breakfast package enhancing your mornings in a meaningful way. James will be pleased to know his assistance helped make your time in the city seamless, and it’s great that the ambiance of our hotel added to the overall atmosphere of your visit. We look forward to welcoming you back for another memorable stay at The Higgins Hotel New Orleans, Curio Collection by Hilton

    Beautiful hotel. Friendly Staff

    rating25 Apr 2026

We stayed here because it's directly across from the WW2 museum (the highlight of our trip). The lobby is beautiful and my kids really enjoyed the cold lemon water as you walked into the lobby. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was bigger than other hotels' bathroom that we had been to. However, the bathroom door was a sliding door so it didn't fully close. Not sure if it was just my particular room or it was the hotel's layout. We went during Spring Break and probably due to the makeup of the guests, it was very quiet and no crazy parties at night. We had a good night sleep from all the walking during the day. We enjoyed the breakfast and especially the beignets. We were very touched by how each guest room has a plaque honoring a service member who served in the US Military. Coincidentally, my room honored a service member who was born in Brooklyn. We are from NYC. Wow. General Manager, General Manager at The Higgins Hotel New Orleans, Curio Collection By Hilton, responded to this review Dear Carminey,It is wonderful to hear you enjoyed your stay, especially our location across from the museum and the thoughtful touches along the way. We are glad the welcoming service, comfortable room, and breakfast all added to your experience. We appreciate you noting the bathroom door design, as that feedback is helpful as we continue to refine the guest experience. It is also meaningful to know the tribute in your room made such a personal connection during your visit. Thank you for your review and for choosing to stay with The Higgins Hotel New Orleans, Curio Collection by Hilton. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!

Bathroom fixtures and couldn't be fixed or fixed poorly so it broke again the next day.Saw mice in the restaurant while eating breakfast. Prepaid for parking but given incorrect information on how to redeem to leave. Security was extremely rude when we called for help. Lovely facility and staff

    rating29 Mar 2026

This is a lovely place to stay, especially if you are visiting the awesome WWII museum! Very nice rooms and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The room we had was clean and quiet (a suite). The only drawback was that the on site restaurant has limited dinner hours---only over the weekends and one of the nights they just weren't open even then. But the food was good for breakfast and the one night we ate there, it was very good. A big plus is that the Museum actually "owns" the hotel in partnership with Hilton so they get some income from it. Overall a comfortable and very nice place to stay! General Manager, General Manager at The Higgins Hotel New Orleans, Curio Collection By Hilton, responded to this review Thank you for this wonderful review. We're glad our elegant 1940s WWII-inspired decor and charming, inviting atmosphere made for an excellent, memorable visit as you tour New Orleans. We appreciate your review and feedback and hope to welcome you back for another pleasant stay the next time you're in town. Until then, safe travels.
