  Worst hotel experience ever

  Spend your money elsewhere!!! The top floor reeks of something strange, there was drilling all night undisclosed to me, and the bathrooms are filthy!!! You also can’t even walk in the room because it’s like a prison cell and the sheets didn’t really smell fresh.

  I'm very easy to please. Unfortunately, this was not it. The bed was fine. Could not change the temperature from 75 degrees. Community bathroom with only cold water. There was somebody playing extremely loud music all night.

  Coming back to New York after more than a decade is quite surreal and really exciting indeed. It was my dream come true to visit New York 10 years ago and times have gone by and here I am embarking on another trip to the Big City!!! I was visiting my friend in Montreal last Thanksgiving and decided to hop on to NY going back to my home base of SG. It was indeed the best decision I had in all of my trips!!! I decided to drop by for 3 days and 2 nights I had the most wonderful and memorable short trip in the US. Since I was alone, I decided to have Times Square as my base since its walkable, close to everything including Empire state bldg and NY library which I both intend to visit. Little did I know that this is the best and perfect place to be especially if you’re on a short trip. I was looking for the right hotel and lucky I found Amercian Inn, right at 38th street - the heart of it all!!! It scores perfectly on both accessibility, cleanliness, modern facilties and most of all affordability!! As an added glitter and joy to my stay in New Year, since I arrived few days before Thanksgiving, I saw the Macy’s department store thanksgiving parade preparation and all over town there are Christmas decors, displays and lights dazzling the Big City!!! Walking around Times Square especially at night with other revellers amongsts the glistening lights of the buildings and attractions of Times Square area was the best moment of my short but sweet US trip!!! It was wonderful, magical, delightful and unforgettable moment of my life!!!Americana Inn, at the heart of Times Square NY is the heart and soul of NY!!!! If you’re travelling alone on a short or even long trip at the Big Apple and open to use a shared space then Americana Inn is the place to be!!! I found a 2 nights stay via Agoda at just over 200++ sgd per night with my own private Standard Double room with a shared bathroom and a daily breakfast nothing could match this in NY!! Located at 38th street, it is just 10 mins walk to Empire State bldg and Macy’s downtown and 10 mins walk midtown to Times Square. It saves you a lot of money on transportation and conveniently located at the heart of It all!! Checkin was fast and smooth and they charge around 14 usd for service fee which is not bad because I have a free daily breakfast, the hotel has lift, well lit and safe, have quiet rooms away from the street and have a modern facility with a nice cozy room all to myself. The hotel is modern and seems newly built with Grey/Neutral tones for its interior. The lobby is long but I loved the inclined lever for our luggages. The pantry is at the corner and they serve daily breakfast here of Bagels, Coffee, Oats, Cereals and condiments even though simple I loved their easy to go breakfast. The bagel and cream cheese/peanut butter were delicious!!! I was booked at the 5F corner quiet area beside a toilet with tub but all around my floors there are lots of toilet/showers which I feel my own private ones and didn’t experience any waiting times. The toilets/shower/tubs are very spacious, well lit and utterly clean. They provide containers shampoo/body wash and water pressure/heating are easy to use and working perfectly. Towels are replenished daily and they both have body and face ones. The room is a bit small but its enough for me especially the bed. Its a high double bed with clean, soft, thick blankets and 4 big clean, soft, fluffy pillows. The mattress is also just the right firmness and very relaxing There is a brown wooden bed frame surrounding the bed and compartments on top of it. This is my favourite part of the room. In front of the bed is a wall mounted flat screen Smart TV which allows me to play Youtube and they also have lots of local and cable channels!!! Wifi is also quite fast and stable. There is a black wooden side table and modern lamp beside the bed and the sink with aromatherapy hand wash and wall mirror on top. There are compartments below the sink. Next is the wardrobe with white door where you could place you luggage and things, hang clothes and another extra Grey blanket on top compartment was provided. I loved this extra Grey one which is soft and thick enough to warm you on a cold winter’s day. They placed the towels and plastic cups for mouthwash/drinks on a nice bambook basket similar to that found in Philippines which are very neat and tidy. I have windows with blackout white blinds and compartments below. And my view are the adjacent rooms of the hotel built from Red bricks facade. Lighting in my room is well lit bright white and the table lamp is warm white which really relaxes me.Finally to cap off my Exceptional review, the hotel staff is there to assist you 24/7 and their very helpful and accomodating. Upon my check-out, they helped me store my luggages until my night departure for my flight. My shuttle service from/to JFK have no issues finding and dropping me off this hotel because I’m on one fo the main streets!!! Keep up the Exceptional service and facilities American Inn Times Square NY, I am looking forward to come back at your place till next time I visit the Big Apple!!!   They recommended a parking garage but does not partner and the front desk rep was extremely rude and doesn’t care. Basically said it’s my fault for using their suggested parking and that they don’t work with them to get the discounted price and there was nothing he can do or willing to do. As someone planning a trip and not from the area, you tend to rely on their expertise. Not get made to feel small.

  We had an unacceptable experience. We did not realize it was a shared bathroom. It wasn't listed in the property details. We could get past that but when we looked at the shared bathroom, it was dirty with dirt and hair on the floor. The individual at the front desk was extremely rude and unprofessional. There was not a manager on call to address our concerns. He would not give me his last name or the last name of the manager--"per their policy." We left and found another hotel for the night but are seeking a refund. I've since left several messages for the manager, who has not called me back. The room only had a bed in it. There was not even a small table for my CPAP machine. When I shared this concern with the front desk, he said he didn't know what a CPAP machine was and basically "not my problem."
