    No heat in NYC WINTER

    rating14 Feb 2026

I’m writing this review as a serious warning to anyone considering staying here.I stayed at this hotel during 27° weather in NYC and the heat in my room did not work at all. I reported it at check-in and continued reporting it multiple times because the room was freezing. Instead of helping, staff dismissed me and I was spoken to rudely, as if expecting basic heat in the middle of winter was unreasonable.I was forced to sleep in a freezing room. The condition I had to sleep in was terrible — uncomfortable, cold, and completely unacceptable for a paying guest. No one should have to spend the night like that after clearly asking for help more than once. When a staff member finally came to inspect the room at 10:30 AM on my checkout day, she confirmed the heat wasn’t working. On top of that, she was rude, disrespectful, condescending, and actually said to me, “What do you want me to do?” after I had already spent the entire night freezing. That response alone tells you everything about how guests are treated when something goes wrong. The only “accommodation” offered was a 12 PM checkout in another room — offered just hours before I was already leaving. After being forced to sleep in those conditions, that felt insulting rather than helpful.I ended up getting sick afterward, which made the entire experience even more frustrating. The problem wasn’t just the broken heat — it was the complete lack of urgency, empathy, and professionalism from staff. If comfort, safety, and respectful customer service matter to you, think very carefully before booking here

    Avoid, avoid, avoid

    rating02 Jul 2025

This hotel is nothing what the photo makes it out to be. It’s by a piece of overgrown waste ground and in a run down part of Brooklyn in a side street. There was no room safe, no wardrobe of any description and the room smelt of cannabis on our arrival. On our return to the room on our first night, thankfully we were only staying two, one of the staff was smoking a joint outside talking to a colleague. I can’t think of anything to recommend it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

It is the worst place. They don't have any chairs or a table. The floor was cement, the pillows were dark, and the sink was in the guest room. One good thing is the location. Bad was handmade, filling was something somebody did in to the backyard.

A Solid Budget Stay in a Good Brooklyn Neighborhood

    rating19 May 2025

Despite some of the negative reviews out there, I found the Baltic Hotel to be a perfectly decent place to stay—especially for the price. If you go in with realistic expectations, you'll likely be pleasantly surprised. The rooms are clean, stocked with ample towels and toiletries, and include a hair dryer. It’s a small, no-frills hotel—there’s no gym, no bar, no rooftop lounge—but the basics are well-covered. The hotel is on a quiet street in what feels like a very safe and walkable neighborhood, with lots of excellent local food spots within 10 minutes on foot.It is a bit of a walk to the nearest subway stations (about 10–15 minutes depending on the line), but if you're comfortable walking a few extra blocks, it's very manageable. In the mornings, there’s coffee and bagels available in the lobby, which is a nice touch, although I found that by 8:00–8:30am, most of the bagels were already gone—so plan accordingly if you're hoping to grab one.Overall, this is a basic, budget-friendly hotel that delivers on cleanliness and convenience. If you're looking for something simple and affordable without the extras, the Baltic Hotel is worth considering.

The people who work there was the star of the place!

    rating26 Mar 2025

The front desk people were wonderful. They were caring and prompt to help! They were kind and respectful. However, the carpet outside the room I stayed was incredibly dirty. My bathroom wasn’t spotless. I would say the overall cleanliness was not that good. To end in a good note….The bagel for breakfast was very fresh and delicious! Baltic Hotel, General Manager at The Baltic Hotel, responded to this review Dear DanielacS7650OI, Thank you taking the time to send us your feedback on your recent stay at the Baltic Hotel. I sincerely apologize for the carpet in the hallways and cleanliness issue mentioned. This comment has been forwarded to the appropriate department to ensure it is corrected. We updated our carpets and have a new cleaner look for the hotel, I hope we see you again next time you are in the Brooklyn area. Especially for the fresh bagels in the morning that are from a local bakery, always fresh! Regards, Imelda Castilla
