    Stole my money; Unhelpful and stingy policies

    My flight got cancelled, and so I missed the check in window for a multi day stay. I did not receive any kind of call asking about my status.When I went to check in, they said that they’d charged a cancellation fee *equal to the cost of the room* and they could not give me the room, but they’d be happy to sell me a new one.In other words, I paid them for room, they took the money and told me to bugger off in spite of extenuating circumstances involving weather and flight cancellation. I understand charging me for the rooms I paid for that they couldn’t resell. I cannot tolerate paying for rooms and being told I can’t stay in them because I didn’t call and tell them I was running late.It is not a good experience to go through flight and weather pain, be greeted with further logistical pain, and then told that it’s because you missed an arbitrary check in cutoff by a few hours

    I would not recommend the Chelsea Inn AT ALL! This place is clean and in a good location in Chelsea, but has absolutely nothing else to recommend it. No desk service, no housekeeping during your stay, shared bathroom (which we knew going in), tiny tiny room with double bed and nowhere to put your stuff, and no windows. Completely claustrophobic. And to top it off, we lucked out with the top floor so had to lug our suitcases up 5 flights. It was miserable.

    This walk-up hotel is a fantastic deal and is particularly well-located. The rooms are clean and have nice heat and air conditioning. This trip I had a room near the stairs at the second floor. Housekeeping is $35, but there are plenty of clean towels downstairs in a cabinet. Free Keurig coffee, a microwave and a refrigerator !

    We had an amazing stay! Everyone working there was happy and helpful. This morning Dawa helped us bring out luggage and bikes to our car. Unexpected service makes a huge difference and the Chelsea did not disappoint! We will stay in this hotel again.

    Do not go to this hotel. It is awful and beat. There is a downstairs bar in the basement and there was pounding noises all night. The heater was on and it was not controlled by the remote. It was so hot, I couldn't sleep. All of the first floor rooms are basically in the lobby - everyone that gets home late at night were talking (which is normal) and the sound came right through the doors. DO NOT stay in rooms 101, 102,103, 104. The mattress sways in the middle. The blow dryer didn't work - the GFI outlet moved when you plugged it in. The maintenance came and giggled it until it worked again. Not safe. No shampoo, conditioner.
