This Comfort Inn has contract to house homeless, has smoke filled non-smoking rooms.

    rating30 Apr 2026

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. Needs to be A ZERO. This Comfort Inn now has a contract with the State to house homeless folks who seem to be unsupervised. Does not keep public areas clean. The front desk is not staffed, the eating area and lobby is filled with folks that are not paying guests and are unfortunately not in "normal mind". Breakfast area is a mess, non-stocked. Manager was not present to speak about checking out early or my complaints concerning deranged person in next room smoking and slamming door every 10 minutes from 7PM to 1AM each night. I was told that my 3 night stay charged at check in would not be refunded if I left after first night. Lights did not all work, my room was flooded with smoke from next door. Front Desk clerk mentioned that the "homeless" folks dismantled the smoke detectors and that nothing could be done.Did not feel safe in this place, did not get any sleep, did not use their breakfast area due to the food mess and Homeless folks yelling and complaining.

DO NOT STAY. Unsafe. It’s state housing.

    rating17 Apr 2026

This property is being falsely advertised as a hotel. It is NOT a hotel. It is being used as a state-funded housing facility, which staff themselves confirmed upon arrival — something that was never disclosed when booking. When I arrived, there were sheriff’s vehicles outside the building. That alone should tell you everything you need to know about the safety of this place. The environment is completely unacceptable and unsafe for paying guests. People were loitering in the parking lot all night, yelling, blasting noise, and treating the property like a residential complex. There was constant banging on doors throughout the night. Children were running around, playing basketball, riding bikes — at all hours — with zero supervision or enforcement of any quiet hours. This is NOT a controlled, secure, or professionally managed hotel environment. It felt chaotic, unstable, and unsafe. I did not feel comfortable or secure staying here. The biggest issue: this is being sold as a standard hotel stay to unsuspecting travelers. That is completely misleading and unacceptable. If a property is operating as housing, it needs to be clearly disclosed — not hidden behind third-party booking sites.Avoid this place at all costs.

    Section 8 Housing

    rating18 Jan 2026

Entire first floor full of section 8 housing. Stinks like weed. Lots of police action 100% not a place to stay alone or with family. Unless you’re looking for a drug deal. Fraudulent Advertising Filthy Homeless Shelter

    rating06 Aug 2024

Extremely horrific. This so-called hotel doubles as a homeless shelter. The lobby couch is filthier than the floor of Penn Station, NY. After refusing to check-in, the hotel claims I was a ‘no-show’ which is not accurate, and they still charging me $400+ for the first night. #Total#cam #Beware #FraudulentMarketing #ReportFraud Hotel Manager, General Manager at Comfort Inn, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thanks for sharing your thoughts about your stay. On the basis of your comments, I have personally taken action to investigate these claims, and we will take immediate action if necessary.Sincerely, Hotel Manager

Horrific...This Hotel should not be offered as a nightly rental at the same time its used for long term living..

    rating14 Oct 2023

I brought my wife to Woodstock NY from New Jersey and this was the only hotel available in the area so I booked a room through Hotels.com for 1 night. As soon as my wife and I pulled into the parking lot it was readily apparent something was NOT right. I've never seen anything like it. They have a gazebo out front that was occupied by 5 men who were smoking marijuana. There was a man pause out in a doorway on the left side of the Hotel. You could see peoples worldly belongings in the windows sitting on the window sills of all the rooms on the second floor so it became immediately apparent that they were housing long term residents like a homeless shelter. My wife immediately stated that there is no way she is staying in these unsafe conditions. I concurred as a retired law enforcement officer it was very unsafe. I walked into the lobby and the lobby stunk of marijuana smell. There was a young man behind the counter in the lobby who looked like he was handling laundry service who looked up and asked me if I was checking in. I told him I was going to but that there was no way based on what was going on that I would be staying there. He said ok, give me your name and I'll note it on your account. I walked out and before I got into my car, my american express card got hit for the full cost of the stay. $438.00.. I've stayed in high end Hotels in NYC that didn't cost that much. I disputed the charges with Hotels.com and they said they have no dog in the fight. I had a no cancel reservation and I acknowledge that but I didn't just not show up and cancel. We arrived and conditions were so deplorable I couldn't stay. Unclean, Unsafe, and based on numerous other reviews, management is well aware of it. And they certainly were aware that they are using this location as a homeless or section 8 housing location. They did not keep up with there advertised responsibility for safe and clean location so I shouldn't have to keep up with my responsibility to No Cancellation Policy. I wouldn't have known how bad conditions were when I booked it. It wasn't until I arrived. Hotel Manager, General Manager at Comfort Inn, responded to this review Dear Guest,We apologize for the unpleasant experience you had at our hotel.
