Dreadful hotel - absolutely not recommended

    rating11 Mar 2026

I booked a five night stay and left to find another hotel after one night. I would absolutely not recommend staying here. Not only was it dirty, but it was noisy, the location is terrible, and it feels incredibly unsafe. There was a mysterious white dried liquid stain on one of the bed frames, water damage that had been painted over on the ceilings, a wobbly toilet and little holes in the wall. The elevator and lobby reeked of cigarette smoke. There is no security in this building. Anyone can walk into the lobby and get into the elevator. Our room's door had light around the entire frame. We ended up jamming a coat hanger in the door handle and propping the ironing board up against the door. The location is terrible and there is construction all around the hotel. To get to a bus stop you have to walk about 10 minutes uphill through other properties. It's a very sketchy walk. When I told the person at the desk that we would be checking out early, he seemed like this is normal and told me to put my keys in a basket. I was not asked what was wrong or offered a refund. We moved to a lovely hotel in WeeHawken and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of our trip.

Decent price and excellent base for exploring Manhattan

    rating26 Jan 2026

I stayed at the Days Hotel by Wyndham North Bergen, NY and was genuinely impressed, especially for the price. It offers excellent value for money and was a great base for exploring New York City.Manhattan is only about a 15-minute ride away on the mini buses, which run continually and cost just a few dollars. They drop you right in Times Square, which couldn’t be more convenient. The hotel staff were excellent at explaining how the service works and made getting into the city very easy.I noticed some reviews complaining about the breakfast, but honestly I don’t understand why. There is plenty of choice to set you up for the day. This isn’t a luxury hotel and the price reflects that, but the breakfast includes hot drinks, cold juices, yoghurts, cereals, eggs, sausages, bagels, muffins, toast, and pancakes. You can eat as much as you like, and there’s surely something there for everyone. If you’re looking for a clean, convenient, and affordable hotel with easy access to Manhattan, I would highly recommend staying here

Excellent budget hotel making New York affordable

    rating09 Dec 2025

Ideal budget hotel for New York. 5mins walk to shuttle buses that come every 10mins and take you to the city centre. $4 in 3.50 return, because dropped at Exxon station 100m closer to Union city. Pizzahut next to drop off, or get off a stop earlier to eat cheaply at local eateries (cuban,Colombian theme)-cheaper and bigger portions than Manhattan. Area felt safe and we regularly ate in Union City and walked 20mins back to the hotel in the dark.Hotel is very clean, with comfortable beds. Quiet, especially if you request top floor at rear of hotel. Dated decor, but still good. All staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast lady is very attentive, making sure products are fresh and topped up.A few reviews criticise the repetitive breakfast, but we found it very good. Not up to 4 star European hotels, but has a range of cerials, toast, bagels, pasties, porridge, eggs, potatoes, sausages. Also fresh friut, juices and coffee. 11am check out and free bag drop. Free car parking and $30-40 uber to Newark airport.

FREE Parking & Cheap Shuttle to NYC

    rating19 Oct 2025

We arrived late on a Saturday night for one EPIC day in New York the next day. It was our first trip to NYC and transportation and parking was one of our biggest concerns. We loved that the hotel has free parking. We also choose this location because of the bus shuttle over to NYC for $4 a person. This relieved so much stress. The shuttle picks up every 15 minutes a short walk away at a gas station. Drops you off in Midtown at Transportation Authority. It picks up at the same location 24/7 every 15 minutes. The bus returned us to a gas station about 1 mile away from the hotel. It was late and raining, but we were still very thankful for the smooth transportation to/from NYC.This hotel was hopping when we arrived late on a Saturday night. The second floor by the elevator was full of loud teenagers hanging out in the hallway. We had a suite on the 5th floor, and our floor was quiet the entire night. With three kids, we always choose a hotel that serves breakfast. There was a nice closed in breakfast room with hot breakfast.

    Extremely disappointed

    rating05 Aug 2025

Brief backstory: I have watched wrestling (now referred to as Sports Entertainment) ever since I was a kid. One of my main aspirations (I don't like the term bucket list) was to attend the top premium live events I grew up watching. One said event (Summer Slam) is at Met Life Stadium this weekend.I booked my tickets and this hotel back in early June. The method of payment I used for the hotel is Buy Now, Pay Later, which is given as an option on their website. I booked the reservation directly with this hotel, not a third-party provider. Given, it is not as close as some of the other hotels but the price was more affordable in comparison to other places in this area. When I arrived to check in, the lady at customer service demanded a physical card from me. Even when I presented the paperwork from the funding source, she kept going on and on about how the hotel had been scammed by people paying with virtual cards, then canceling the reservation. This has nothing to do with me but she kept repeating this and wouldn't let me check in. She insisted the hotel did not take the Flex Pay option, even though my paperwork clearly says their website and email address. I decided to call the BLPL people on the phone and was on hold. While I was hold, a man came out and asked if I was being helped. I told him that she would not let me check-in and that I was waiting for a representative, so they can convince her to let me check-in. Once he saw my paperwork, he immediately knew what I was talking about and even pointed in the notes that the reservation was paid for.She did not give other people checking in as much of a hard time with their questions. A few of those people were coming to attend the same event as me. Although she did apologize, I am disappointed, and the insensitive interrogation was extremely hurtful. It made me feel as if I was being judged based on other experiences she stated the hotel went through. If she was aware of the organization I work for, her tune would have been different, but I never lead with that. I am not that type of person, and I would never bring dishonor to my late grandparents by scamming anyone or any organization financially.Although there are nice touches to this space (flooring, outlets, and color scheme), the poor customer service that took twenty minutes to sort out soured my experience. I am thankful the guy (who I assumed was the manager) came to straight everything out ... otherwise, he would have missed out on an over $600 booking. The customer service representative should know about all methods of payment and not automatically give off the air of judgment or prejudice.Needless to say, I won't be staying at this particular hotel again, but I will remain open to other Days Hotels and other hotels under the Wyndham umbrella. Hotel Manager, Other at Days Hotel by Wyndham North Bergen /NYC Area, responded to this review Dear Guest,We sincerely apologize for the negative experience you encountered at check-in. Your frustration regarding the handling of your payment and the manner in which you were treated is completely understandable. We appreciate your detailed feedback, which will help us reinforce training for our staff to ensure all guests are treated fairly, respectfully, and with professionalism. We are glad the situation was ultimately resolved, but we regret the distress it caused and will take steps to prevent similar occurrences in the future.Sincerely,Hotel Manager
