    Nothing like the photos/poor service

    rating17 Jan 2023

The service at this hotel is poor and the managers operate in a shady manner. They deliberately cancel your rooms booked previously, and when you arrive offer you at a much higher rate..they run your card and tell you the machine isn’t accepting it, then say if you pay cash they will give you a better rate - seems like they are collecting for rooms without using Holiday Inn system.Very rude and crude manager. Tells you outright he doesn’t want your business if you don’t agree to pay cash. Still your card is charged even when he says it’s not.It is a convenient location, but not Holiday Inn service standard. Hotel isn’t like the photos you see and rooms are really tight and poorly done. Won’t recommend unless management changes. Hotel cancelled reservation without notice

    rating07 Sept 2022

I couldn't rate my stay because I didn't "stay". In June 2022, I reserved a two-night stay at this location to attending my nephews wedding. After flying into JFK from Atlanta, GA on Friday afternoon, 9/2/22, taking a subway after subway, then bus after bus, and walking a couple of blocks, I arrived at the hotel around 8 pm. To my utter dismay, I'm met with orange rubber barrels at the entrance of the hotel and a note on the front door, stating the hotel closed on 9/1/22. I beckon to a man inside the "locked" door and explain to him that I have reservations for two nights. He then calls another man (manager?) to the locked door who reiterates what the sign says, that there are no guests in the hotel and that a cancellation notice was sent to all guests on August 30, 2022. I explained to him I never received a cancellation notice. In fact, my credit card was just charged for the $440.22 two-night stay on August 23, 2022, as the hotel reservation confirmation email stated it would be. The man appeared to be unmoved by my explanation nor did he explain why the hotel was closed or offer to find another place for me to stay. Gratefully I was able to find an Airbnb about a 20-minutes walk from the hotel.Once I settled into the Airbnb, I spent an hour on the phone with IHG as well as the third-party hotel company, Agoda, explaining my devastating situation. Neither company had any information as to why the hotel was closed, but reassured me they would look into the matter. Agoda called the hotel manager and was told "the hotel was closed by the government". ??? The Agoda agent did apologize for my inconvenience and processed a refund to my credit card. I'm grateful that I got my money back, but am truly baffled by the hotel manager's lack of courtesy and professional manners toward a customer. As a result, I rate this hotel and/or its manager with one star -- only because there's not an option for a big fat ZEROOOOO!

Typical SMALL NYC room but decent property

    rating28 Jun 2022

I note the other two terrible reviews (lol) but i can't say that was my experience. The hotel overall and room were pretty clean. the room itself was tiny but had all the essentials (queen bed/nightstand/ottoman and small side table/small wardrobe/iron and ironing board AND fridge and microwave so no complaints here. The bathroom was a decent size and only was missing body wash but i had my own anyway. my room faced the alley and even on the 3rd floor still lots of street noise but hey...its a holiday inn in brooklyn not trump tower so that wasn't a big deal.even better for me was a target & five below literally 2 doors down the street. the breakfast was slightly lacking and didn't have the signature cinnamon rolls but it was hot and free.the best part was they waived the deposit even though i arrived before check in and offered to wait for my room. Pretty decent guys. overall, i felt safe, it was clean and convenient so i'd stay again.

    Clean but smokey

    rating08 May 2021

Talk about a smoke bath! The hallway was filled with the smell of weed and cigarettes, the room was very clean, very cramped, no wash rags, had cosmetic issues and I did not get the bed size I reserved. Front desk refused to rectify the issue told me call Hotels.com. Could not get it resolved but stayed as it was convenient to my venue and our trip was 11 hours one way. Let's talk about the street traffic and hallway noise ALL night, could rest at all. Wouldn't stay there again.

    The WORST!

    rating30 Apr 2021

Don’t be fooled by the stock room photos! The room was TINY, lacked even a chair of furniture and the bathroom was incomplete, not one towel bar or hook, the walls paper thin and at 3 AM next door was smoking pot which smelled like it was in my room and the sounds coming through the walls were that of a porn movie being filmed. Terrible for a family!!
