★☆☆☆☆ Extremely Disappointing Stay – Would Not RecommendWe booked two rooms for five nights at Holiday Inn Express NYC Chelsea–NoMad and unfortunately had a very poor experience.First, the rooms were extremely small and nothing like the photos online. There was barely enough space to move around. You couldn’t even leave a suitcase open without blocking the walkway. The cleanliness was also disappointing. The air conditioning unit was covered in dust, and the ceiling vents in the bathroom looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years.Noise was a major issue throughout our stay. You could hear every door opening and slamming on the floor, making it very difficult to sleep. We were constantly awakened at night by guests coming and going. Conversations in the hallway could be heard clearly from inside the room. One night, there was a drunk guest banging into the hallway walls, and I honestly felt uncomfortable leaving my room. I reported the incident to the front desk, but was told they couldn’t determine who it was because there are no security cameras on the guest floors. The breakfast was also disappointing. The powdered eggs tasted terrible, and after eating breakfast we experienced stomach issues. There were no fresh vegetables available, and the breakfast area was far too small for the number of guests staying at the hotel. Finding a table was almost impossible.Customer service was another major concern. At around 5:00 AM, we came to the front desk and found no one there. One employee was outside smoking with a friend, while another appeared to be sleeping in the breakfast area. This level of professionalism is unacceptable. The most frustrating part happened after checkout. We were charged an additional $151.62 after leaving the hotel. No explanation was provided, no receipt was emailed, and nothing was mentioned during checkout. The only reason I discovered the charge was because my credit card company sent me a notification the next day. When I called the hotel to ask about the charge, I was placed on hold for more than 30 minutes without receiving any answers.Overall, this stay was far below expectations. Between the tiny rooms, poor cleanliness, excessive noise, inadequate customer service, and unexplained charges, I would not stay here again and cannot recommend this hotel to others. General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Holiday Inn Express Nyc Chelsea - Nomad Area by IHG, responded to this review Dear Guest,We sincerely apologize that your stay did not meet the standards of comfort and care we aim to provide, and we truly regret that several aspects of your visit caused disappointment. We are very concerned to learn about your feedback regarding the condition of the accommodation and the cleanliness concerns you mentioned. We also regret the noise disturbance you experienced during your stay, and we understand how difficult it must have been to rest in such conditions. We are also sorry for the frustrations and inconvenience you experienced due to the unexpected charges and the level of service you received from our team. Your experience is not reflective of our usual standards, and we truly appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention so they can be properly addressed. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. We do hope to have the opportunity to regain your trust and welcome you back the next time your travels bring you to New York.Warmest Regards,Ahmed LatifGeneral Manager

Exactly as expected but needs security…

Positives - Location in general is great. Easy for Penn Station and getting around Midtown. Good shower. Comfy bed. Breakfast was the standard affair. Coffee, cookies and wine hour. Negatives - Location (kind of) not the hotels fault they exist but we had to pass one guy lying comatose just feet from the door, jacked up, spoon beside him, had spiked himself. Another night we returned to some guy out of it lying sleeping on one of the outside chairs. Security is non-existent and obviously needed. Anyone can walk in. And outside is a bit dirty looking. It’s busy if you don’t time breakfast right. Nowhere near big enough for the number of guests. There are 2 lifts and about 15 floors and what seemed like 50,000 people wanting to use them! It can take a while sometimes. We were ‘upgraded’ but I’m not sure what the upgrade was as we were in the exact room we booked. Rooms are, as is usual in New York, small. It was tight for 3 adults with limited storage space. Anyway you can’t fault it as a base for a trip really. It was clean and comfortable and we were fed. That’ll do. General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Holiday Inn Express Nyc Chelsea - Nomad Area by IHG, responded to this review Dear JJ1874,Thank you for staying at Holiday Inn Express NYC Chelsea - NoMad Area and for your generous rating. We’re glad to hear that you found our location convenient and enjoyed the beds’ comfort. It’s also wonderful to know that breakfast offerings met your expectations and that you appreciated your clean accommodations. However, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you faced with the elevator. We understand your frustrations and are grateful for your patience. Your comments regarding the disappointing experience you had outside the hotel and the room size are valuable to us. We appreciate your understanding and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for an even better experience in the future. Your feedback helps us enhance our services and better serve you in the future. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back again.Warmest Regards,Ahmed LatifGeneral Manager

We haven’t even checked out yes and I’m handing out 5s like candy canes. This place is a HIDDEN GEM. The young ladies that handled our check-in were fabulous. Thank You Alana and Brittney! The house keeping staff, what we saw of them on our brief visit, were great. One of the engineering staff asked if we needed more pillows, towels and blankets - and even told us to “bundle up out there!” The breakfast area was monitored by two women who scooped up falling napkins, left tableware and dropped utensils like they were World Cup Goalies.Thank you for a great stay! Horrifying experience!

We checked in our room after a full day walking NYC. We unpacked then went to dinner. Can back get in bed to find damp sheet. Pulled sheet back to find wet mattress pad and wet mattress. Odor of urine noted. Our room was changed. New room found hairs on mattress pad which had stains. Would not stay here if you want to sleep in a clean bed. They did credit us $100.00 on a $950 bill. General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Holiday Inn Express Nyc Chelsea - Nomad Area by IHG, responded to this review Dear Mjdurkin,We sincerely apologize for not meeting your expectations during your recent stay at our hotel.
