    Stayed here for 1 night at the start of May, and was pleasantly surprised. The room was on the small size but what we were expecting from NYC. The women on reception were really friendly and helpful. Stored our luggage in the reception area on our last day. The hotel is a short distance from the subway.     This was awful. Front desk staff was rude to a gentleman delivering laundry and then less than pleasant to myself while I was checking in. Upon entering the room, we got a whiff of urine. The AC was broken...unplugged and plugged back in and literally wouldn't come on. Thermostat...same. Phone was inoperable and even if it did work, it was missing more than half of the buttons required to be functional. Also, construction was going on outside, which would've been tolerable if the room hadn't had the other issues. We didn't even settle in. We went back down to the lobby and informed them we were not staying. We booked 4 Points Sheraton on Platt for about $600 less for 4 nights with a much nicer room. They did partial refund. Wouldn't recommend.     Solid. Nice, helpful staff, clean room, not too loud at night. Conveniently located to many restaurants and stores. Would stay again next time I come to NYC.     I would not recommend hotel as uses a homeless shelter. No security between floors. Whilst in the lobby I witnessed an aggressive argument between a male and female which landed in the police being called. I did not feel safe during my staff especially when in the elevator alone.     Avoid at least until the construction is done. The slightest wind has unsecured ropes and platforms banging into the walls all night making sleep difficult at best. Combine that with the location’s inaccurate address- it’s not actually on Delancey - and you’re sure to want to stay anywhere else. And though the desk clerk was friendly and apologetic about it and offered free breakfast as compensation- the fact is what was needed was a room I could sleep in. And she said they were sold out.
