    We were returning guests as we had stayed at Hotel Hugo in the past. We looked forward to the rooftop bar(s) as well as the location. We were told that check in was at 3 p.m. and we arrived at 3:30 p.m. We waited for 20 minutes for a room and when our room was ready and we checked in it was handicapped accessible. This room was sparse due to its accessibility and the bathroom institutional and there was no place to sit other than the bed or a rolling desk chair. Very minimalist. When we complained we were told that it was what was available at check in and that it had a view. We complained further that we should have been advised and, if possible, given an option. We did not get any assistance and just stayed in the room. At the very least they should have offered us a chance to switch rooms or offered us a free breakfast. Nothing was offered to us. There were many people checking in at the same time as us so we know that there were rooms other than the one they placed us in. Further, the parking lot they sent us to was to give us a discount but when we parked they didn't offer that. Thankfully we inquired at the front desk and they validated our parking ticket so that we got the discount. If we hadn't inquired we would not have gotten the Hugo discount so Hotel Hugo needs to be sure to tell their guests that this is how it works and also make sure that the parking lot is aware of their agreement. There are many overnight lots that are closer but this is a good discount. There are so many hotels in NYC and especially in that area. I doubt we will stay again at Hugo since they didn't make any effort to remedy our situation.     Small Boutique hotel with friendly, welcoming staff

    From arrival to departure, we were pleasantly surprised by how nice and easy this boutique hotel was. The front desk staff couldn't have been more accommodating when we arrived early. They stored our luggage and offered to text us as soon as our room was ready. The room was clean, not too small, nice bathroom with plenty of sink space, towels, etc. It was quiet--no road noise, even though we faced Greenwich Street. Very nice to have the large coffee/restaurant space downstairs. (unlimited drip coffee for hotel guests) My husband used the workout room, which he said was fine. The best was the rooftop bar--definitely go! There are two levels and each one has its own personality, with awesome views, good food/drinks, great waiters/waitresses. The New Yorkers we invited there were impressed and said they would definitely return and bring their friends. We liked that this hotel is not on a busy, crowded street. It felt quiet and sane and safe, and it's very close to busier areas so you aren't missing out. Next time we are going to take advantage of the Ear Inn being across the street. Thank you to Hotel Hugo for providing a very pleasant, low stress experience.

    This hotel is very comfortable and clean. It is on a quiet street with very little nighttime noise (a huge bonus in NYC). The location is wonderful and the rooms were small but well appointed. I would recommend it.

    Prime Location, But Not Worth the Price

    Location is the main draw here, but beyond that, the hotel fell short – especially for the price. Rooms are small (expected in NYC) but feel dated and worn, with noticeable damage and average linens. The mini fridge didn’t keep items cold. Extremely small gym (only one treadmill).The rooftop – one of the main reasons I booked – was closed during my 5 day stay, with inconsistent reasoning provided. Worth confirming in advance if that’s important to you.On the positive side, the front desk staff was friendly and the ground-floor café was excellent, but note that it closes at 10p daily.At $550+ per night for a king bed, there are better options in the area.
