  Average stay and where is my room deposit?

  I stayed here with my partner in May 2026 for a first time trip to New York. The hotel location was okay, taking us approx. 25-30 minutes to reach Times Square on foot. The hotel was in a quiet area and could walk to most places depending on physical ability. When we checked into our room, we were informed of the city tax $38 and a $100 per night room deposit, meaning we had to pay $400 up front. The hotel did not accept cash and we were directed to use the kiosk card machine. We inserted $400 and it gave us a card so we could pay the room deposit. Within the room deposit, $38 city tax was included. The hotel staff informed us on check in we can use that $38 for room service, items from the shop/cafe and money towards a city bike hire. We used this city tax for our coffees each morning, which was really nice by the way. We were told at check out the room deposit would be returned however with the city tax deducted. Our refund was approx. $240. We checked out early on our final day around 8am. The hotel staff locked our suitcases away and this is manned with a ticket system. At check out we were told the room deposit would be returned to the card in a couple of hours which allowed us the time to get breakfast, sight see and then use the room deposit we were refunded to get gifts etc. The refund did not appear on this cash card despite asking reception on more than one occasion, why the refund was not available. We got to the airport at approximately. 4pm and still no refund. The cash card cannot be accessed online or used in the UK and we still have not received this refund. I have raised emails to the hotel, issue forms on their website and even called the hotel and the management gave me an email for the finance manager. I am yet to receive a response from anyone and I have now had to open a complaint with British Airways who are currently investigating this matter. It is incredibly disappointing of the hotel. I would like to add more details about the room. It’s a big room with a queen size bed. I do not think it was the cleanest. The bed was comfortable. Our room got tidied up daily. Our view from the room was beautiful, especially when the sun began to rise. The staff were polite and the general atmosphere was okay. We did not eat at the hotel. It was ideal for a place to rest after a long day exploring New York. Honestly, i would not stay here again. I should not have to return home after an amazing holiday and be compiling emails asking for our own money back. Will I ever get my money back or a response from the hotel?   Perfect Anniversary Stay in New York

  My partner and I stayed at the Hilton Millennium One UN Plaza for a week in February 2026, and we had an excellent experience from start to finish.A special thank you to Derek, who kindly upgraded us to a skyline-view room overlooking New York City for our anniversary. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made our trip even more memorable.The room was lovely, spacious, and very comfortable. Despite the cold February weather outside (around 1°C during our stay), the room was always warm and cosy, making it a great place to relax after a day of exploring the city.Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and eager to help. The hotel's location is also fantastic, with easy access to many of New York's main attractions while still being in a quieter part of Manhattan.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we will definitely return.   Amazing view and location! A beautiful suite located in a quiet neighborhood. Conveniently close to Grand Central Station and bus stops for travel around NYC!   Unforgettable Trip

  Excellent hotel with exceptional customer service. Travelled for my wife’s 40th birthday and was our first visit to NYC.We were upgraded to a corner room on floor 38. The location of the hotel in East Midtown meant views were unbelievable (no photo could do it justice) with nearly all skyscrapers visible towards Manhattan. I genuinely spent most my time when in the room gazing out the panoramic windows.The hotel is only a 10 min walk from Grand Central and 20 mins from Times Square.Only marked down slightly because we were wanting a little lay in on our last day, but were woken by maintenance and constant drilling at 7am. But please, don’t let that put you off this hotel!Thank you for an unforgettable stay.   The closest hotel to the United Nations and half a mile from Grand Central Station. Beautiful views of Manhattan and the East River skylines. Staff very professional and friendly.
