    Great location and staff!

    rating29 May 2026

The hotel is in a great neighborhood on the upper west side. Old world style lobby, very friendly and efficient staff. Rooms are small, but with the usual amenities, except a fridge. Plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby and a subway stop one half block away. Daily housekeeping was provided, a real plus!

    Better than Expected

    rating03 May 2026

I was a little worried going in because of the other reviews, but we needed a place to stay overnight in the area and it was the most convenient. Check in was a little slow but it appeared they were training a new person. We had a room on the 10th floor. The room and bathroom were clean (dated but not rundown). The A/C was loud but worked well. The bathroom smelled a little funny to start but running the fan cleared that up. The beds and linens were really clean and neat and the bed was pretty comfortable. Very little noise considering we stayed a Saturday night into Sunday. Lots of food nearby.

    Not bad, great service

This is not a bad place if you have reasonable expectations.Older property, but reliable daily maid service. Least expensive hotel on upper west side, so not same level as the Artehouse or the Beacon, but if u need to be in the 80s to 90s or above, its hard to beat for location. Very responsive front desk staff. Got a fridge delivered to room late at night. Also they provide complimentary passes to NY Fitness. If u need to be in this part of NYC, u get a lot for your money.

Terrible customer service from the front desk and from the manager

    rating27 Feb 2026

The management at this hotel is absolutely ridiculous. My flight to New York was cancelled on 2/21 and I never even made it to New York for my reservation. I did the reservation through Priceline and while it did have a no-cancellation stipulation, these were extenuating circumstances. The hotel said I needed to ask Priceline to send an "email requesting cancellation," with proof of flight cancellation provided. They did so. A couple days later I got an email from Priceline that my request was denied. I called the hotel, spoke with a manager who was terribly unhelpful. He kept going round and round in circles saying, "We were unable to accept the request based on the information provided." I said, "Fine, what other information would you like?" He responded that he didn't have an answer and that I would have to contact the third party to re-request a cancellation. I asked if there was someone else I could speak to and he said, "No at this time I'm the only one here." I said, "You must have a supervisor" and then after several go arounds he finally put me through to a voicemail. Priceline told me that the payment was processed directly to the hotel. So, I had to recover that from them. Basically the hotel gladly took $331 dollars for me for a reservation I never checked in to.

A hotel for the night, apparently

    rating28 Nov 2025

This is our second time here. A real bargain, with an excellent location in the upper west side, a block from the 96th street station, and the 123 lines. A beautiful half hour walk through Central Park brings you to the Met. Unprepossessing though the lobby be, a bit run down, service is friendly and efficient, and the rooms themselves are clean, relatively spacious, with good cable and WiFi. Despite the ridiculous name, highly recommended: can’t beat these prices, and last minute bookings seem to be readily available.
