  Jamilah is truely an ambassador for this fine hotel.

  This was the second year in a row we chose to stay at the Refinery. Last year we celebrated our 11 anniversary, Jamilah (front desk/concierge) made our stay memorable. She personally saw to our every possible desire. She, provided treats for our pet, gave outstanding sightseeing tips and even got us into the roof-top bar for outside seating. No easy task for a last minute request, to celebrate our anniversary. This year, we were thrilled to see her again and be remembered as returning guests. She saw to our room arrangements and left a beautiful thoughtful collection of hotel gifts. With a host like Jamilah, you can't help but have an outstanding get-away. Every hotel should seek to have a host like Jamilah. She goes above and beyond to treat guests in a special way and she is an outstanding ambassador for The Refinery hotel brand. Thank you Refinery and a special THANK YOU to Jamilah. OUTSTANDING location and spectacular hotel.

  Awesome family stay in NYC, near Times Square and Bryant park

  Just got home from an amazing ‘stay-cation’ at the Refinery Hotel in NYC. The hotel is surrounded by great food options (not to mention their rooftop is one of my favorite!) . We booked one of their larger rooms (Atelier) since it was the three of us. Beautiful room, my wife LOVED the Le Labo toiletries and the overall room setup with a sitting area + large desk. She was able to catch up on some work comfortably. The housekeeper (I didn’t catch her name) was extremely friendly along with the Front Desk staff. The hotel is in a great location - close to Times Square and Bryant Park - our daughter loved the carousel there and the Free Art Cart where she could paint, draw and color in the park. Really enjoyed our stay - hope to stay again soon!

  Billing issues upon checkout soured the stay

  The stay itself was fine on the surface. Rooms are well designed and the team was generally pleasant, but the experience was undermined by how the billing and room change were handled.We initially booked one room and, upon arrival, decided to switch to two rooms. This was discussed and handled on property, and we were told this would be treated as a straightforward change at prevailing rates. The front desk also mentioned an upgrade and waived facility fees, which we appreciated.However, at checkout the final bill reflected a significantly higher room category rate that had never been clearly communicated during the change. When raised, the explanation reverted back to the original booking rather than addressing how the stay had actually been restructured at check-in.The issue here is less about the amount and more about rate integrity and clarity. An upgrade should not translate into a silent repricing, and if only higher category rooms were available, that should have been communicated transparently at the time.As someone familiar with hotel operations, this felt like a breakdown in communication and accountability rather than a simple misunderstanding.Overall, a decent physical product, but the lack of clarity and follow through on billing left a poor impression. I would not choose to stay again. As outlined during our extensive email exchange, you were charged the rate you confirmed at booking and if you could provide us with an email confirmation otherwise then we would of course honor that rate. The email communication with the travel agency which made your reservation proves that.More importantly, I must address the manner in which you treated our team. The aggressive and condescending approach directed at our staff falls well short of the professional courtesy and mutual respect expected within our industry.
