    Horrendous hotel and staff

    Terrible hotel, don’t stay here! We arrived to very rude staff. Then paid for our room, got to room it was flooded! Staff agreed to cancel confirmed with this booking provider. Yet to receive refund 36 days after originalComplaint. Only book this hotel if what be scammed!     870981211This is the worst Hotel in the world!I have been to hundreds, if not a thousand hotels in my years of business and leisure travel. My comment above is not an exaggeration.Never ever have I seen such s*thole.Beware: they will extort and blackmail you for money upon check-in. They ask for $60 dollars cash and if you don’t give them the cash, they won’t give your room key even if you have paid fully for the room.They will ask you to go to the ATM, conveniently in the lobby to take cash, and incur fees and charges, and will NOT give you receipt for your cash. It seems they are running a tax evasion scheme as if you don’t check out by 11am, they steal your cash.Also, you will get bedbugs. Guaranteed. In the winter, you might even freeze to death. I woke up at least a dozen times trembling ice-cold. The AC unit in the room is absolutely disgusting, moldy and broken and shuts off before the room gets warm. I feel they have it on timer or something trying to save on energy while freezing the hotel’s guests.Honestly, I couldn’t wait for sunlight to escape this torture chamber. The moment I saw the street, I felt relieved and ran for my life.You are better off at the homeless shelter. It is this bad. Fortunately, the pest control experts that we employed to complete the thorough inspection following your complaint discovered no evidence of bedbugs in any of our rooms.     We had booked four nights here for our trip to New York, and called two weeks in advance and confirmed our booking. When we get there, we are met by an unwelcoming receptionist who got our booking name and without further information get on a call with someone else. We then find out that he was calling one of their partner hotels as this was apparently turned into a homeless shelter, something they neglected to inform us about before arrival. After another phone call with the other hotel he then informs us that there are no available rooms at this other hotel, and he can therefore give us one room here for the night and will then cancel our stay for the other three nights. He is in no way understanding or helpful about our frustrations about this situation, and doesn't seem to see a problem in the fact that we haven't gotten any information about this before arrival. We get checked in, and even have to remind him to give us our ID back, as well as notice how they have copies of peoples’ bookings lying around for everyone to see. We then get to our room only to notice that the door can neither close properly nor lock at all. We, therefore, get on the phone with Hotels.com whom we booked through, whom hadn't gotten information about the fact that it was turned into a homeless shelter either, and with help from Hotels.com get a hotel right away and left Royal Stay Hotel as soon as we can. Can NOT recommend this hotel to anyone, they have the worst customer service, absolute no understanding or helpfulness, doors don't lock (or close properly) and they fail to inform their guests about whether or not they are actually able to stay there when you book a room.     Where do I begin first? In a nutshell this place is absolutely filthy. The carpet, the headboard, the bathroom floors, the curtains, the lamps, EVERYTHING! The air conditioning cover was missing. The window area was dusty. There was a hair on the bathroom mirror. And OMG it had a bad odor that smelled like funk and cigarettes. DISGUSTING! I usually don't leave bad reviews but this one is by far the worse hotel I've stayed at. Ohhhhh, and the phone is filthy too! Don't believe me, book at your own risk!     If I could give this place -100 stars I would. Booked through a third party appear my son. When my son got there they said they didn't know why the app said they had rooms bc they were fully booked. Called the next morning for a refund and they said my son never checked in. I have the uber receipt for his drop off at 11:39 pm when I booked online at 11:22 pm. The third party tried to resolve and get me a refund and they said the hotel keeps hanging up on them and refuses to refund. DO NOT BOOK HERE!
