    Smells putrid !

    rating02 Apr 2026

From the hallways to the rooms, the hotel smells like a homeless shelter. I called the front desk for air freshener and was told housekeeping had left for the day. They acknowledged the odor and blamed long-term tenants, which is unacceptable. Air freshener is inexpensive—this shows a lack of care for cleanliness. Do not book here.

    Rather Enjoyed this Place

    rating29 Mar 2026

I liked the WV Eurohostel more than I thought I would. The rooms are tiny. You have to know that and be ok with that going in. I was traveling with my 12-year-old daughter, and we said we weren't going to do anything in the room but sleep, so tiny was ok. We wound up hanging out in the room and even eating some carryout there, and it wasn't too bad. The shared bathroom works out just fine. There were other people, sure, but I never had to wait to use the shower or the toilets. And they are kept very clean. The desk staff and the cleaning staff were really nice and friendly. That's what made me like the place even more than I'd expected. Also, the staff is available by text and they really respond right away and in a helpful manner. For instance, while out and about, I asked where the nearest Citi Bike station to the hotel was, and they got right back to me so I could plan our route. I would stay there again and happily save money on a trip to New York. Ronaldo Nascimento, Guest Services / Front Office at West Village Eurohostel, responded to this review Thank you so much for taking the time to share this. We’re so glad you and your daughter enjoyed your stay. You said it perfectly—our rooms are cozy, and it’s great to hear they still worked well for your trip. Happy to hear the shared bathrooms and cleanliness met your expectations too.Your kind words about our team mean a lot. We always aim to be friendly and responsive, so it’s great to know we could help while you were out exploring. We’d love to welcome you back anytime. Thanks again for choosing us!

    Surprised

The room was as expected. What wasn’t expected was to be forbidden from using the bar and restaurant. I guess it’s a “private club”

    No access to common areas

    rating13 Oct 2025

The best thing about the Jane is its staff. They are friendly and helpful and nice. The hotel no longer has access to the common areas which is a shame since the rooms are very small and having a place to go to and be social and more comfortable, feels particularly important for this one. My next door neighbor was smoking, I could smell the cigarettes out in the hallway. Some of the guests seem to be long term residents, so the vibe is not really there if you want to feel like a travelers amongst fellow adventurers in the big city.

    Not fabulous

    rating12 Oct 2025

Here's the thing, if you are a hostel, say you are. This is not a hotel in any sense of what you think a hotel will be, at least in a modern way. I will say, I booked through a second party sight and was looking for something affordable, which it was. On the second party site it did not clearly state the style of hotel this was. I did not realize that bathrooms were shared. Personally, I would not have booked if I realized that, but that is beside the point. If you go to the website itself, I will say the pictures of the rooms are accurate. It was clean. It is a kitschy old hotel with all the quirks that come with that, and that part I was totally willing to experience. I stayed in a standard room. It is VERY tiny. On the website it looks like the lobby and the common areas are gorgeous. This is also a lie. As a guest at the hotel, you have no access to those areas. You enter the hotel down the stairs to the side of the main entrance in the basement of the hotel. There are a very plain lobby area and a small desk. (Not a problem if you advertise honestly) The things that are problematic: The bed is seriously uncomfortable. The mattress is short, even for a twin, and thin. If you are taller than 5'8" the length will be a struggle. The window was very drafty. It looks like the kind you can lean in to clean, and it doesn't latch back solidly so I was chilly all night. The bed linens are sparse. One sheet and a very thin comforter. The bathroom has one toilet for the entire floor and 2 showers. One of which, on my floor, was basically a drizzle. There are no hooks inside the showers to hang your belongings on. The bathroom floor is not sloped so if someone takes a long shower and steams the bathroom the whole floor becomes wet and slippery. There is also no way to have any privacy as it is an all-gender bathroom. There seem to be longer term residents who apparently like to come into the bathroom in underwear only, which was unexpected. The amenities of this hotel are sparse. The towel they give you is small. The TV is old and if the picture was dark then you could not see anything that was on screen. The Wi-Fi took at least an hour to actually connect and when it did it was not super-fast as advertised on the website. The elevator is very slow and is shared by the private club next door, which used to be part of the hotel. There is minimal staff on hand for the hotel. The toilet paper ran out in the bathroom and there was no spare available. When the front desk was contacted, I was told they had called someone but didn’t know when it would be replaced because they just worked at the front desk. I was told I could go and use a bathroom on another floor. My biggest problem with this hotel is how they advertise themselves. It just isn’t honest. If you are expecting a hostel-like experience, then that is more accurate than what this experience was. If you are expecting a hotel with amenities, then this is not for you.
