The hotel was built in 1904. The hotel welcomes guests in a 12-storey building with a lift and 184 rooms. Guests are warmly welcomed by English- and French-speaking staff at the 24-hour reception desk in the lobby. Check-in/check-out service is available round the clock.     Great location, we walked to Central Park and Metropolitan Museum of Art. The restaurant attached, Nice Matin, had excellent food and drink, fun to sit outside for breakfast or dinner, but we also sat inside. The elevators are not as slow as some reviewers say, we had no issues. The only issue we can think of is the AC was pretty loud but got the room super cold. We will definitely stay here again.     Great 4-day stay! Clean room! Quiet room... easy to sleep... pillows are very comfortable... location is great!... many bars, restaurants and coffee shops are just 3-minutes away.     You don't get to control AC. We didn't need room service but on the 3rd day they put a letter under the door saying they would need to check room for the safety of other guests???The man checking us in was rude.Not accommodating for early arrival. If you've never been to NYC What in the world were we supposed to do for 4 hours. The system is set to a default temperature range to ensure efficient operation and guest comfort, but adjustments can be made through our HVAC network when needed. Our front desk team is always available to assist with temperature concerns.The letter placed under your door is part of our hotel safety and housekeeping procedures. For the safety and well-being of all guests, as well as to maintain our cleanliness standards, we periodically conduct wellness and housekeeping checks in occupied rooms. This is a standard practice and is not directed at any particular guest.As for your arrival experience, our guaranteed check-in time is 4:00 PM. While we always try to accommodate early arrivals whenever possible, it can be challenging when the hotel was fully occupied the night before and rooms require adequate time for cleaning and inspection.     We had two rooms . The twin double on the 4th floor was a lovely room on a corner with 2 windows facing I. Two directions.Our double was an inside room facing a dark courtyard. But actually was fine and well laid out.Breakfast was taken at Nice Matin the restaurant on the ground floor - under different ownership. Both that and a dinner we had there were excellent!
