Aggressive staff mindset and insular service

    rating05 Jun 2026

I booked a stay at this property through Agoda, under the impression that it operated with standard, consumer-focused hospitality protocols. Unfortunately, my experience revealed a stark contrast to typical hotel chains. This property operates heavily as an independent timeshare vacation club—a business model that, based on my research into past regulatory actions and numerous owner complaints regarding its operations, seems to prioritize its rigid internal protocols over standard guest hospitality and flexibility.During my stay, an unsettling incident occurred in the lobby while I was on a phone call. A security officer named Jesse directed an aggressive, unprovoked tone across the space. His primary intention was to demand that I remove myself from the armside of a chair, but he did so while making repeated, highly inappropriate glances at my attire that left me deeply uncomfortable. When I abruptly ended my call and approached him to clarify what the issue was, he appeared to realize his error. Instead of offering a polite correction, he instantly shifted into a loud, self-defending, and hostile manner, claiming my positioning was compromising the furniture. The subsequent handling of this complaint by their administration only highlighted an insular corporate mindset. I received a standard template email from the front office assistant director, Andrew, but after providing my feedback, there was an absolute lack of ownership or direct follow-up from him. Instead, a representative named Sabina later called me. Rather than engaging in genuine conflict resolution or listening to my perspective as the aggrieved guest, she essentially read from a rigid script like a parrot, repeatedly insisting that the matter had already been "investigated and satisfactorily resolved" internally. Furthermore, she consistently addressed me by the wrong name despite being corrected multiple times, and failed to follow through on her explicit promise to send me her direct contact details. From my perspective, the customer relations process here exists solely to protect the property's staff from accountability rather than ensuring guest peace of mind.I wouldn’t even start commenting on their elevator situation ( prepare for over 5 min wait for the single operated elevator), musty and moldy bathroom which I complained about but no follow through …. Given its old property there is lack of sound proofing so prepare for a rough night/s for those like me light sleepers..I highly advise independent travelers booking through third-party platforms to look elsewhere.

There is a chill in the air

    rating30 May 2026

An exceptional hotel. Period. Room was terrific, staff is attentive and responsive. One exception: like many (maybe most) NYC buildings it has central heat/air. There is no switch to change from one to the other. In my case a cold snap made the room uncomfortably cold because management had switched the building over to air. Yes, you can shut off the air but you will still be at the mercy of ambient air temperature. There may be no fix but management should at least inform the guest at the time of booking to pack a sweater. It would be the polite thing to do.

    Cold at Manhattan Club

    rating11 May 2026

We reserved a room at the Manhattan Club via RCI. Unfortunately, our room's temperature was in the mid 60s. After playing with heat/air controls in the room, we called the front desk. We were told that the hotel put their system into "neutral" mode which meant no heat nor cooling. Apparently, this older building had some rooms that were too hot and some too cold. So, they could not offer any heat or cooling in any room. The outside temperature was in the 40s that night. We had to check out and find another hotel (also an old building but one with heat and air). Although when calling and stopping by the front desk, we were told nothing could be done, when we checked out they did offer to move us to another room.I do not understand how RCI would list the Manhattan Club as a Gold Crown resort with no heat/cooling. Calling RCI was also useless.

    Great location in Manhattan.

    rating25 Apr 2026

in addition to the great location, there is a bar on the 26th floor, the rooms are like an efficiency apartment, the bellhops are very helpful, transportation can be arranged for a fee. The rooms were clean and our room was quiet. The only downside is the additional “service” fees that the resort charges when you check in.
