Fabulous iconic hotel in a britlliant location.

    rating08 Jun 2026

Fabulous iconic Art Deco hotel in a brilliant location. Close to Penn Station & the subway, The Empire State Building and Maceys as well as many other shops. We arrived at 10 pm and were in need of sustenance and went into Tik Tok (24hr diner attached to hotel) - a real taste of New York. They also have an Italian Restaurant on site. Busy atmosphere and very friendly staff. Our room on the 8th floor was rather small for two people however, our friends were on the 18th floor and they had a much larger room, something to bear in mind. All of us had quiet restful nights. One thing to remember and I gather that this is quite normal, that once you've handed in your key card on checkout you cannot use the toilets downstairs before your onward journey.

Stayed at the New Yorker Hotel for 3 nights during a recent trip to New York. The biggest positive is definitely the location. Being right next to Penn Station made getting around the city incredibly easy, and many attractions were within walking distance. The room was clean and well maintained, which I appreciated. However, the room itself felt quite dated and was smaller than expected. The bed was also on the small side, and overall the space felt a bit cramped, especially if you’re spending more than a night or two there.Overall, if you’re looking for a convenient base in Manhattan and plan to spend most of your time exploring the city, the New Yorker does the job. Just don’t expect modern, spacious accommodations. General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at New Yorker By Lotte Hotels, responded to this review Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Daniel. We are pleased to hear that our location made your New York visit more convenient and that your room was well-maintained by our housekeeping team. We understand your comments about the size and feel of your room, as well as your note about the bed, and will share your feedback with our leadership so we can continue to improve the experience for future guests. We appreciate you taking the time to provide such thoughtful feedback.

New Yorker hotel- great check in experience and a great location

    rating04 Jun 2026

I very rarely write a review but the excellent gentleman at reception compelled me to write this.I arrived tired are too early to check in but he was extremely helpful and found a way to get me showered and on my way to an urgent meeting in town. Sure the rooms are a little tired… but the hotel locations check in a team are first class.Thank you Mohammed for all your help given to a weary traveller in his third hotel in three states in 3 days.. General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at New Yorker By Lotte Hotels, responded to this review We are truly grateful you took the time to share your experience, especially since you do not often write reviews. It is fantastic to know how much Mohammed's kindness and willingness to help during your early arrival made an impression. Moments like these are exactly what we hope our team members deliver, and your appreciation means a great deal to everyone at The New Yorker. We are also glad you found our location convenient as you moved between meetings, and it is wonderful to know our check-in team made your travels a bit easier. Thank you again for your kind words. We hope to welcome you back the next time your journey brings you to the city!

Charged $500, Then Ignored for Over a Month

    rating02 Jun 2026

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share this experience. After staying at The New Yorker Hotel, my wife and I were charged a $500 smoking fee. Neither of us smoke, and there was no smoking in our room. The hotel later provided a report supporting the charge, but we strongly disagree with its conclusion. What ultimately convinced me never to stay here again wasn’t the fee itself. It was the complete lack of customer service.Over the course of more than a month, I sent 5 emails, made 6 phone calls, and repeatedly followed up seeking clarification. The original manager, Garret, never responded. Another manager, Aldo, was dismissive. I was continually transferred between people without receiving answers. The only time I finally received a response was after sharing a screenshot of another guest reporting a similar issue. As someone who works in a client service business, I understand that not every dispute ends in the customer’s favor. What I cannot understand is why a hotel would take more than a month to respond to a legitimate concern involving a $500 charge. The response I eventually received from Barry Rauch included the statement that people often post on social media when they don’t get the outcome they believe they deserve. While that may sometimes be true, reviews also serve another important purpose: they help future guests understand not only what happened, but how a business responds when problems arise. This review is not about getting the outcome I wanted. It’s about professionalism. It’s about responsiveness. It’s about treating guests with respect when concerns are raised.Had the hotel responded promptly, communicated transparently, and taken the concern seriously, I may not have agreed with the outcome, but I would have respected the process and disputed the charge with my credit card company.Instead, I was left feeling ignored and dismissed. For a hotel at this price point, that’s unacceptable.I will not be staying here again, and I believe future guests should be aware of how customer concerns are handled once the stay is over. General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at New Yorker By Lotte Hotels, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, Randy. We are genuinely sorry for how your concern regarding the smoking charge and the follow-up communication was handled by our Guest Relations team. Hearing that your outreach was met with slow, dismissive, or incomplete responses is deeply disappointing, and it’s clear we did not show the professionalism and respect every guest deserves. The frustration of dealing with the situation for more than a month, with calls and emails left without meaningful replies, is unacceptable from any perspective, and we take this feedback seriously. We will address your comments directly with our team members so that situations like this are treated with greater urgency and care in the future.Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to learn from your experience.
