Location

This iconic Fifth Avenue hotel overlooks the emerald expanse of Central Park in Midtown Manhattan. It is situated within walking distance of many of the city's attractions, such as the Natural History Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This location also puts the hotel in the midst of the best shopping in the city. It is 200 m to Barney's, 350 m to Central Park, 650 m to the Museum of Modern Art and 700 m to Carnegie Hall. Times Square is 1.5 km away, the Empire State Building is just over 2 km and it is 10 km to the Statue of Liberty on Staten Island.

Facility

The hotel has 189 rooms and 49 suites, which are located on 39 storeys and are reachable by lift. Multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available.     Stay away if you value your sleep and some quite

    Worst experience ever. Could not sleep or get a moment of peace. Hotel gave no notice or construction occurring at hotel prior on website or at check in. There was hammering and pounding on walls of hotel all day, non stop for hours. Could not rest or sleep. Lack of notification or willing to take rooms with direct drilling offline shows a complete lack of compassion for your guests. Worst experience ever imaginable at hotel. And responses by staff showed lack of responsibility and further lack of compassion for your guest.

    A great location right on Central Park. Easy access to mass transit, too. The hotel is lovely, in an old school sort of way, but very clean and well-maintained. The staff was attentive and very gracious. They really made our stay the excellent experience it was!

    Perfect hotel. The front desk was wonderful. The restaurant consistently delicious. The people always kind and helpful. The location was excellent. Our American Express upgrade was not only honored, but we were upgraded a few levels above the requisite into a gorgeous suite. Again, a perfect experience. The Pierre will always be our home away from home.

    The location was perfect. The room and bathroom were both a good size. The atmosphere was okay, although the staff were not particularly friendly on arrival. The people checking in next to me were offered water, while I was not, which suggests inconsistent service and a lack of attention to detail.The room was not the cleanest, and the bathroom was filthy. I complained about the bathroom, but the woman who was apparently the front desk manager was dismissive. I ended up showing her photos on my phone of the disgusting shower head and the colour of my disinfectant wipe after removing some of the mould. I was told it would be resolved while I was out, but it wasn’t.Housekeeping returned and said it had been cleaned, yet it was still dirty, so I had to take baths for the rest of my stay. A more senior manager later called me and offered a dining credit; her tone and attitude were far more professional than those at the front desk.The front desk staff and housekeeping’s cleaning have made me question whether I would return.     Staying here has made me want to try the other classic, dying, institutional New York hotels. It has so much personality. It’s large, clean, and incredibly comfortable. The staff are service-oriented yet idiosyncratic dinosaurs. (Not that I’d want them to be any different!) There are elevator attendants! There’s a Bose CD player in the room, but no bluetooth (at least I couldn’t figure out how to). It’s a time capsule. We’re lucky it’s still available to the public. Don’t stay at the Carlyle, bc they’re good at marketing and will be there. This place, I’m not so sure. Again, huge rooms that are clean (twice per day room service) and beautiful. Attention to details like fresh Cala Lillies in the cafe. Can’t ask for more!
