Location

This elegant European-style hotel affords a prestigious location in the charming Murray Hill district of Manhattan. It is just a few minutes’ walk to a selection of bars, restaurants, shops and links to the transport network.

Facility

The hotel was built in 1920. 323 rooms and 263 suites are located on 16 storeys and can be reached by lift. Guests are warmly welcomed by English-speaking staff at the 24-hour reception desk in the lobby. Check-in/check-out service is available round the clock. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and currency exchange service. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. There are a number of shops, including a supermarket and souvenir shop. Additional amenities include a TV room and a library.     Won’t stay here again. Reception was nice on arrival so had high hopes but room was awful. It was old, tired, dirty, air con stopped working and found a massive clock roach which smelled so bad. Reported to house keeping who just smiled and nodded. Reception saps would send someone to look at it and that was all.     Location is great 5 mins walk from Grand Central whilst being in a quieter area. The staff were great the room was clean quiet and a decent size. It was such a shame to leave and wouldnt hesitate to return.     Quiet location, nice room, poor customer service

    Nice hotel in a quiet location that is walking distance from many of the sights. The reason for a rating of only 3 stars is the front desk attendant, Kevin Buestan. He needs a lesson in customer service. We were given the wrong room the first night. The hotel agreed to change our room the next day (not a huge problem). But then we had to deal with Kevin. We explained the situation and he felt the need to comment, “The only difference is one queen bed instead of two”. We thanked Kevin for the studious observation and had to reiterate that we paid extra for a room that only has one bed and feels more spacious. Kevin had to have his manager make the room change. We also requested a late checkout and Kevin would only grant us 1/2 an hour. If there are similar hotels at the same price, I recommend taking the other hotel. You’ll likely get better service.     Great location, nice room, poor room service

    My family stayed at the Sonesta for four nights. The location was fabulous and the room was very nice. The two complaints we had were the room service was very spotty. The second day after we arrived, the room had been cleaned; however, the next two days it had not been cleaned. On our third day the maid showed up when we were returning from dinner at 8:10 in the evening, so it was very awkward to have her clean. We had to ask for extra towels and pillows. There were four people in the room, but when they cleaned the room the one time, they only replaced three of the towels. We had to call down and have our trash removed. We felt like for a hotel of this caliber that was not acceptable. Another minor issue was that the room had no ice bucket or microwave. So it was difficult to reheat any of the meals that we might’ve gotten it out in the city.     Would've been 5* if it wasn't for the bathroom size

    First time staying at the Sherburne sonesta, having stayed at other midtown hotels in previous years, I was very pleasantly surprised with the size of the room, especially with 2 queen beds, we had a partial view of the empire state building from our room. The hotel is out of the madness of midtown but it's still easily walkable to the main attractions like times square and the empire state building. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially having complimentary luggage storage. Our booking came with 3 complimentary drinks/snacks per day which saved a lot of money especially on buying drinks to walk around with and keep in the room. The rooftop bar is pricey but has spectacular views of Manhattan. The main negative about the room was the bathroom, there was only 1 towel rail which only fit 1 towel and there was nowhere else to hang towels to dry. The bathroom was small with the sink taking up so much room, the door barely grazed the sink. There was adequate storage space in the room itself but nowhere to store bigger suitcases.
