  Cheap hotel in fancy clothes

  Great location and a close walk to the Newark train station but ultimately, disappointing. I had reserved two rooms with 2 beds each and was told those weren't available and that I would be "upgraded" to a family room and room with a queen size bed which did accommodate but we worked with it. Overall, it just felt cheap. My keys didn't work on multiple occasions. No coffee or any amenities in the lobby. You had to pay for it in the restaurant next door. Speaking of coffee, make sure you request coffee cups for the in-room coffee maker when you check in because there are none in the room. Also, found the staff to be cold and a little rude.

  Do not stay here. I travel all the time and I would only give a bad review to maybe one hotel a year -- I am not fussy. .But this was just one problem after another.When I got back to my room there was an incredibly loud noise. It was a giant AC compressor outside, definitely not functioning properly. I called the front desk and they moved me to another room, but they were so unsurprised that they had to have known the problem -- so why did they put me there to begin with if they had other open rooms?The bar/restaurant was out of both ketchup and vermouth. The body wash dispenser in the shower was empty. There were no coffee cups in the room despite a coffee machine, and when I called the front desk they chuckled and told me they ran out, and there were none in the hotel. In the morning I got to the elevator and there was a sign that the button was broken and please walk down one flight.The rooms have weirdly little furniture or decor for their size so it feels cavernous and unfinished.The staff, especially the bartender, were nice. But something is fundamentally wrong -- are they getting ready to close, do they have an incompetent manager, is Wyndham in trouble? I don't know. But don't stay here.

  I stayed here during a work trip into Manhattan as it was close to the train station and walking there was a breeze. Hotel was very nice. Clean and good sized room. Staff were great very helpful. Overall quite good for a brief stay. I would stay here again, no issues with that.

  It’s hard to judge a hotel on staying there only one night. You literally shower, go to sleep, wake up and then leave. I can say that the staff were friendly and very helpful. Check-in was super fast and easy. Location was quite good. Not that much around it but it’s right beside the station so getting to Manhattan is a breeze. The restaurant on site was quite good for breakfast reasonable price for New York or New Jersey I guess. Overall, I had a pleasant day and I do recommend it.

  OK But Room For Improvement

  Stayed at this place for two nights whilst working in Newark.First impression was mixed - the hotel entrance/lobby area was clean and spacious however the person on reception who checked us in was quite rude and dismissive. It almost felt like we were a nuisance for wanting to check in. There are two lifts in total, one was out of service when we arrived and remained that way until we checked out two days later.The room was spacious however the bed was very soft and not great for anyone with back issues. The bathroom was also generous with space, had a decent shower with good pressure and a good sized sink and mirror in which to get ready.We stayed on the 7th floor and there was a very noisy fan/air conditioning vent close to our room that made sleeping difficult. There was a hairdryer (albeit a noisy one), iron and ironing board in the room.We tried the breakfast one morning which was OK, not too much choice but what was on offer was satisfactory. As lovers of oatmeal it was pleasing to see that there was a hot batch ready to help yourself and eat straight away.Upon checkout the reception staff weren’t as rude as when we checked in, but some training in customer service would be beneficial.Overall it was OK, served its purpose. Decent hotel but nothing to write home about. Location is central and there is enough nearby to keep you busy, fed and watered.
