Rooms

    Beautiful Property, Inconsistent Execution

    We recently stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Orlando and came in with high expectations, as experienced travelers familiar with luxury properties and the Waldorf brand.From the beginning, we were very clear and proactive in communicating our needs—particularly ensuring that our two separate reservations would be treated as one seamless stay. This was acknowledged, and we appreciated the effort made.As Hilton Diamond members, we appreciated the upgrade to a Waldorf Suite. The room itself was lovely, and we especially loved and appreciated the fireworks from our balcony—such a memorable highlight of the stay.We also want to recognize several team members—Taylor, Greg, Anna, Hannah and Toni—who stood out for their attentiveness and genuine effort to elevate our stay.Unfortunately, the overall experience was inconsistent at best, and at times disappointing for a property of this caliber.Our room was not ready at check-in, which ultimately caused us to cancel a Michelin-star restaurant reservation we had planned. When we were finally brought to the room around 5:40 PM, there was no orientation from bell service, no offer of ice, and little guidance on room features.Throughout the stay, there were repeated oversights that added up. Basic and essential amenities and necessities were missing or not replaced.Service inconsistencies extended beyond the room. At valet and bell services, there was little assistance with luggage and no offer of water or a welcoming touch—more of a “help yourself” experience, with staff often gathered and chatting rather than engaging arriving guests.Dining was a highlight of the stay. We appreciated the champagne and cake—it was a lovely and thoughtful touch. Toni at Bull & Bear provided an excellent experience, and Justin at La Luce was also wonderful.A recurring theme throughout the stay was a lack of coordination—where it often felt as though the left hand did not know what the right hand was doing. Individually, many staff members were warm and attentive, but that did not translate into a cohesive, luxury-level experience.All of these small inconveniences and missed details added up to a stay that fell short of what we expect from a Waldorf Astoria and ultimately put a damper on what we had hoped would be a little luxe getaway. While we appreciate the room upgrade and the token food and beverage credit, the gesture, though appreciated, did not fully offset the cumulative impact of the inconveniences experienced.We share this feedback graciously and constructively, as we do believe this property has the potential to deliver the elevated experience it promises. With more consistent execution and attention to detail, it absolutely could.We hope to return in the future and see those improvements reflected.     I booked a king bed deluxe suite with Amex fine resort and hotels. I had to pay extra for two queen beds, I didn’t get early check in and had to wait for a room with a view of the roof.
