    Loud Music From Ballroom

    rating06 Jun 2026

This hotel is in an excellent location – in the heart of Philadelphia and within walking distance of the harbor. The room was spacious and updated. The breakfast was very good. However, these was a prom party in the ballroom under our room. We could hear the loud beat until 1am. We called to complain, but they really did not care and there wasn’t anything they could do since there was not another available room. We have a “fan” app on our phone, so we turned this on as loud as possible to mask the beat as much as possible.

Great Hotel - Location, Rooms & Service

    rating30 May 2026

What a great hotel! We are 5 old college friends and we met for two nights to catch up & see some of the sites during the semiquincentennial (250th) year. This hotel was perfectly located! We could walk to many of the historic sites and there were great restaurants within a 5 - 10 minute walk. Highly recommend The Plough and the Stars and Positano Coast (across the street from the hotel). This was late May so there were weddings and proms going on. It did get a little loud at night, but we overlooked that. There's a big open air lobby with a bar. Rooms were fine. We met John the General Manager in the lobby one morning. Great guy! One of his claims to fame is intalling complimentary water dispensers on every floor - you can pick still or carbinated and have a choice of quite a few flavors. The coffee in the hotel lobby (which you do have to pay for) is from a local Philly company. Wander the grounds nearby and you'll find statues commerating the Irish and the Scotish rebellions.

A Gem of a hotel in Philadelphia.

    rating21 May 2026

Well located in the heart of America's most historic neighborhood. Philadelphia Marriott Old City Hotel. It is located within walking distance of the city main attractions, restaurants, bars, shopping center and night life, just 5 minutes walk from the 2nd. street metro station. Being outside the city center, it's easy to get around, avoiding traffic. It's close to the airport and train station, 10-minutes drive to Lincoln Financial Field, where six soccer matches will be held in the FIFA World Cup 2026. The rooms are comfortable and well-decorated, excelent wi-fi, featuring an excellent bathroom and shower. There is a well-equipped fitness center with plenty of space, as well as a lively lounge bar, located in the center of the hotel. The large and very comfortable "M Club" lounge offers 24hrs, 7 day a week access, with beberages selection, comfort food and great options of snacks, a very taste gourmet coffee. Breakfast is generous, with a choice of buffet or a La Carte options. The service is excellent, with competent and hands-on management; the team is attentive and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel. Loud

    rating17 May 2026

The reason this was rated so poorly is because we were on the second floor and right underneath was prom. You could hear the music, the loud base beat. We were on a coach tour and another room on that floor there lights were actually shaking. Prom went until 12:30pm. Brian Nocella, Other at Philadelphia Marriott Old City, responded to this review Thank you for sharing your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the noise disturbance you experienced during your stay. We understand how frustrating it must have been to hear loud music and bass from the prom event below your room, especially while traveling with a coach tour and trying to rest. The fact that the vibrations affected nearby rooms as well is certainly not the experience we want for our guests. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we will review how event noise is managed with our Banquet team during large functions to help prevent situations like this in the future. We truly value your feedback and hope you may consider giving us another opportunity to provide you with a more comfortable and relaxing stay.

4/10 only recommend for short stay!!

    rating12 Mar 2026

The room at the hotel was very clean and comfortable, which I appreciated. However, the overall experience was disappointing. The food at the hotel was not good and definitely overpriced for the quality. The valet service was also horrible—very slow and unorganized, which made coming and going frustrating. Another downside was that there is no laundry room available for guests, which can be inconvenient if you’re staying more than a couple of days. The hotel has a great location, but the service and amenities need improvement. S R, Guest Services / Front Office at Philadelphia Marriott Old City, responded to this review Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear you found your room clean and comfortable. We sincerely apologize that the dining experience and valet service did not meet your expectations. Your comments have been shared with our team so we can address these concerns and improve our services. We appreciate your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a better experience in the future.
