  The people who work here are really nice and helpful. The room was nice. The hotel room does not have storage for clothing or bags beyond a small wardrobe with a few hangers. We were told that the maid service only comes every three days unless you ask, which if fine, but not great. The room did not have good lighting.The hotel offers great amenities like a bar, restaurant, and gym. It is walkable to many restaurants, cafes, bars, and stores.   Big Disappointment

  The hotel itself is in a fabulous location and is clean with lovely decor. Nearly all the hotel staff are friendly, and bartender Quinn was fabulous on Friday evening, our first night.Unfortunately, GM Teresa is a disappointment, she seemed very bothered on Sunday morning when we asked if our room could be tidied up, trash taken out, and bath linens refreshed. When we returned Sunday evening, the two very small trashcans in our room were still full, and no fresh bath linens were provided. We spoke to the friendly lady at the desk and our trash cans were emptied and a stack of bath linens were brought to the door of our room.Today is the 5th day of our extended stay.No bath linen refresh since Sunday, our room has not been cleaned or restocked with essential items, toilet paper, soap, cups, etc. VERY disappointed in what is presented as and priced as, a higher end hotel.Sadly I cannot recommend and will not book another stay at the Cambria hotel in Portland, Maine.   We loved this location. It is easily walkable to anywhere in the Old Port, but it is at the edge of the Old Port. The setup of the 1 BR suite was perfect for our family. Considering the suite configuration, I found the price to be extremely reasonable compared to other hotels and STR's. This did not affect my rating because we simply called the hotel to figure it out, but they need to make the parking situation more clear. During our two day stay, we were asked by two different couples outside trying to determine where to park. This hotel is in a builidng with other offices, so as others point out, the lobby is on the 4th floor. The parking garage entrance immediately beside the lobby entrance is the one to use. The ticket machine says the price is higher, but the front desk will validate to lower the cost to $30 per day. You go to the left after entering, and this area is designated for hotel guests. The charge was not unreasonable compared to most downtown hotels.   The nicest Choice hotel

  This was by far the nicest Choice brand hotel I’ve stayed at, though it can be hard to find as signage is minimal and the entrance is kind of hidden. Wood floors, nice updated bathroom and furnishings, harbor views (I paid for a view but it seems almost all the rooms have views), very convenient walk to restaurants shops and the harbor. Very quiet at night. The lobby is on the 4th floor. There is a garage attached with parking for $30 a night but we found free street parking on Newbury a block behind the hotel. There’s also free street parking across the street. We parked in the free spot and walked everywhere the whole time we were there.They do charge you a $25/day resort fee (plus tax) that you can use as credit towards food and drink. We bought a bunch of bottled drinks with it. Hotel staff were nice.   Winter weather find--indoor parking, spacious bar & restaurant, 'secret' courtyard ...

  We chose the Cambria Hotel in downtown Portland, Maine for what was to be a 2-night stay January 5&6, 2026. Our pre-Covid travel experience with the Choice Hotel group of hotels was excellent, but our loyalty points had expired and we are planning a return to extended travel with our remaining pet. The Portland Cambria offered indoor parking (at $30/night), an onsite restaurant and bar on the same 4th floor as the front desk that—in better weather, not the 13 degrees Farenheit predicted— would be delightful. We hadn’t noticed the $25 amenity charge*, so we believed that the $25 “discount” described on check-in would indeed apply to either dinner or breakfast. No matter—eating inside in very spacious and comfortable surroundings when outdoors is freezing was great. Getting to and from the 4th floor front desk from the parking lot may require walking out of the parking lot and into the un-attended ground floor lobby, but it’s easy. Everyone we encountered at the front desk was helpful and friendly, starting with Andrew on the telephone, Patrick in person. The limited dinner menu was fine, maybe a tad expensive, but given the winter lull in hotel traffic to Maine, not an issue—no coats & boots to deal with, no danger of slipping on ice outside & waiter Chris a delight. Our room was spotless, sheets crisply clean, TV worked, hot water great, chaise lounge by the window clean & comfortable, internet fine. We could hear our upstairs neighbor running water, we woke frequently because of thirst attributed to extra-dry air, but otherwise restful silence prevailed until early morning—fine by us, given 9:30 am appointment. Our second night stay was cancelled in time to avoid fees, the noon checkout enabled us to walk back in time to collect our pet & exit. I can imagine that this hotel is booked spring & summer, its 4th floor courtyard etc. is a great amenity. *Our initial search for pet-friendly hotels in Portland—which has disappeared—was from 2020, which may have accounted for my missing the $25 amenity fee.
