My experience at the Holiday Inn in Princeton, New Jersey, was extremely disappointing and unacceptable. The hotel staff, including the manager, were very rude and unprofessional. After driving for more than 12 hours to New Jersey, I arrived at the hotel only to be informed that my reservation had been canceled, even though my payment had already been taken. The hotel uses a misleading reservation process designed to charge guests the full amount before arrival. Without notifying me, the front desk redirected my reservation to an online system, and afterward they refused to resolve the issue. In addition, I was charged $761 for services that were never provided. I was also asked to pay extra taxes upon arrival, despite having already paid in full. The staff ignored my concerns and provided no assistance or explanation.I paid a significant amount of money and received no service at all. This experience caused financial loss, stress, and inconvenience after a long drive. I am confident that this matter will be addressed through legal channels if necessary.I strongly advise others to be cautious when booking at this location.

Needs help

The hotel just needs some care overall. Everything is old and poorly cared for. Wallpaper in our bathroom was secured to wall with staples. Metal was rusty. Water damage to walls and ceilings. AC was noisy. Room key cards did not work consistently - we were with a large group and it happened to multiple people. Breakfast was just microwaved food and fake eggs.

Be careful when booking!
23 Jun 2025
From the moment we arrived, we were met with unpleasant conditions. The overwhelming chemical smell in the lobby from mopping was brutal and unwelcoming. We were shocked to find that the hotel bar was closed on a Friday night. The conditions in some of our rooms were unacceptable: One of our group members was given a dirty blanket when requesting bedding for their pullout couch.Another guest’s bed was wet. In our own room, the bedding also felt damp—likely due to the air conditioning. Despite providing the front desk with clear instructions regarding the multiple rooms under my name, a guest was mistakenly issued a key to my room, entering while we were asleep—completely unacceptable, especially with children in the room. An hour later, another individual tried to access our room with a key card issued by the front desk. This left my family, especially our children, feeling unsafe for the remainder of the stay.Additionally, another guest from our group had a manager knock on her door at 11 p.m. demanding a credit card, startling her late at night. It was just one thing after the next! Just be careful when booking your stay! The positive side is the bed and sheets smelled cleaned.

Solid offering right down the middle for the price point and location
24 May 2025
The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. There is a reasonable breakfast included and it is perhaps a notch below offerings at similarly priced brands. We chose this location due to its proximity to the university as we were attending events there. On the days we went the rates were not meaningfully higher or lower than competitors at this brand level. As is sometimes the case as time passes, the hotel could use a modest capex program in the rooms to bring it up to current standards. If you have an eye for such things some maintenance elements could also use some attention, including the elevator controls, as an example. Perhaps they are a bit complacent due to a captive audience but it is still a solid choice for this budget. The staff were generally friendly and pleasant.
