  San Antonio Riverwalk: A Smooth, Scenic, Wheelchair‑Friendly Getaway

  We stayed at the Canopy by Hilton, a cozy hotel with balcony rooms overlooking the river. The third‑floor bar/lounge was a standout, open‑air, breezy, and a great place to relax with a drink.The hotel offered very easy ADA and wheelchair‑accessible entry to the Riverwalk. My girlfriend uses a wheelchair, and we were able to navigate the paths smoothly. There are plenty of restaurants along the river, and the boat tour is right there for convenient access. You can leave your wheelchair at the dock or bring it on board, whichever works best.We visited the Alamo and the missions during our stay. Both offered solid wheelchair access, and the staff at the Alamo were especially accommodating. Admission is free, and there’s a short complimentary video that explains what the battle was like. You can pay for guided tours, but it’s just as enjoyable to explore on your own and read the historical placards.Overall, it was a very nice trip. We stayed for three days, which felt like the perfect amount of time to see the major sights in San Antonio. You can certainly stay longer. There are bus tours available at the boat launch stations and around town, including hop‑on, hop‑off options.You can park at the Canopy, but there’s also a nearby garage that cost about $20 for two full days. Prices may vary, but it was very reasonable and only two blocks from the hotel any much better price than the canopy which I believe was $50 per day. It’s called St. Mary’s Garage, located at Travis Street & St. Mary Street.

  Elegant hotel right on the River Walk.

  This elegant hotel made our trip. Our dog Melvin also gives it two paws up. Quiet and tight on the river walk. You’ll want to stay one day longer.   STAY HERE, YOU’LL LOVE

  I absolutely loved my stay. The view, the amenities, the $18 daily credit for drinks/ food at Domingo. The champagne for two on 3rd floor, the views from that floor is nice. The restaurant food was amazing surprisingly, we went for brunch and they fit me and my fiancé in last minute. I enjoyed this place, from all my stays, this is one of my top favorites and I stay at A LOT of hotels. The restrooms are updated, I love the layout of separating the bedroom and restroom by that added barn door. Everything was quick and easy, location is perfect as well as it’s near the Alamo, bars, restaurants, sight see and walking distance to the river walk. I couldn’t have chosen a better spot.   Great hotel for the weekend

  Great hotel. Part of Hilton boutique brand. Excellent location on the riverwalk & a friendly welcome. We had a corner room 8th floor with a side view of riverwalk. Nice. Remember that conventional high floor is better does not work on the riverwalk since it’s so high you can’t see the water. The “resort fee” is fairly useful $18 towards breakfast or drinks in hotel. I’m a Hilton gold member so additional $25/day credit. Great. Domingo restaurant on the riverwalk very nice . Otro terrace bar 1 floor up overlooking riverwalk very nice with included champagne cocktail. . Valet parking $70/nt ! and we observed very slow at check out. We parked at city tower multi story $10/ day 5 mins walk. In conclusion a solid choice.
