Location

This hotel is located right by The River Walk and around 600 m from the tourist centre of San Antonio, while links to the metro transit system are just some 640 m away. It is only 3 blocks to the historic El Alamo (some 800 m) and 6 blocks to the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. The hotel is within walking distance of many area attractions such as the Majestic Theatre (about 321 m), the Spanish Governor's Palace, La Villita (about 482 m), San Fernando Cathedral and the Tower of the Americas (about 1.3 km). It is approximately 128 km to Austin, Texas.

Facility

The hotel has 99 rooms, including 2 suites, 81 single rooms and 13 double rooms, which are located on 8 storeys and are reachable by lift. Guests are warmly welcomed by English-speaking staff at the 24-hour reception desk in the lobby. Check-in/check-out service is available round the clock. Amenities include a baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday.     A gem on the River walk

    Wonderful hotel in an excellent location on the River walk. You can check in at street level then go down one flight to gain access to the river walk. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, especially as we were new in town. We had breakfast vouchers which allowed us to try The four brothers at the sister hotel opposite as well as the in house restaurant. We had delicious cocktails and appetisers there. The room faced a wall but we knew we weren’t paying for a view/balcony. The room was spacious and clean and we appreciated the separate bath tub and shower cubicle. The pool is small but we did use the rooftop cafe for a quieter drink.     Our stay included delayed check-in, luggage taking over an hour to arrive, missed housekeeping, and missed basic service moments. Small issues individually. A pattern together.What ultimately mattered was what happened after. I provided detailed feedback. Hotel leadership asked for my phone number to discuss it. I provided it. No one called. I followed up again and asked for escalation. More than a month later, still nothing.At that point this stopped being about service mistakes and became about accountability.In any well-run service organization, follow-through is the standard, not the exception. Based on both the experience and the lack of response afterward, I would not return and would suggest others consider alternatives.     Room was perfect; very comfortable and i love separate tub and shower. We ate at the hotel restaurant Ostra on our first evening and the next morning. While the food was good, it took us over an hour to get waited and receive our food both times. We did not return. The spa was wonderful and the staff in it were exceptional. We did receive two texts during our four night stay asking did we really not want our rooms cleaned? They said we did something to alert them to not clean the room. Very strange (and somewhat annoying). We also got a text stating to look at our email for our final bill. Never got it. As a travel agent I would recommend the hotel for its location and rooms but will warn future clients of these issues.     Extended Stay at Mokara

    We were in San Antonio for a family wedding and chose the Mokara. What a fantastic choice it turned out to be. We were booked for two night but due to an ice/snow event at home in DFW we needed to extend our stay. The Mokara accommodated us for the additional two nights. This is a beautiful boutique hotel on the Riverwalk and we enjoyed our stay and will return on our next visit to San Antonio.
