    Worst experience of my life!!!!

    rating20 Mar 2026

Worst hotel experience of my life. Our door lock was BROKEN! We could not leave our room to walk to dinner on the riverwalk (our reason for booking) and soon realized we could NOT LOCK THE DOOR from the inside too! When we requested assistance or room change, the front desk lady offered no help. We even took a video showing the faulty lock and she still pretended to “contact the manager” to no avail. Finally we decided it was unsafe to stay after 45 futile minutes of waiting. No refund given, and even hotels.com is not cooperating. Pay the extra money for a real hotel experience. This ghetto fake boutique hotel is nothing of the sort. It is smelly, dusty, musty and lacks taste. Period.

    Great Historic Property

    rating19 Nov 2025

If you’re expecting brand new 5 star accommodation, don’t book here. If you’re looking for a really cool historic site to stay at - book it! The beds are comfortable and the staff has been very welcoming. The carpets in the room could use replacing, but outside of that, no real complaints. It feels like you’re stepping back in time. I visit San Antonio monthly for work, and I’ve appreciated the quietness for a downtown property.

    Sleep in your car instead

    rating08 Dec 2024

I agree with the last review, I would not want my worst enemy staying here. Pictures are all lies this place is nasty. Only reason I stayed there was to try something different (my wife was very upset with me) and boy was it different. Heater would not work and it was cold outside hot water would not heat. The front desk guy fixed the heater we were told to run the hot water for several minutes for it to heat. The room was dirty and smelly. The door to the balcony I paid extra for was literally almost falling off, gaps so big lots of cold air coming into the room. The door knob was barely on. I had to barricade the door to go to sleep. DO NOT BOOK HERE!!! Sleep in your car it’s safer and lots less expensive. We did complain and were told we’re sorry about that. Horrible horrible experience!

Dont fall for the online photos

    rating05 Dec 2024

The photos online are not a realistic perspective of what the reality of this hotel is. It is mold infested, dirty hotel. I would not want my most hated person to stay here, that's to cruel. The smell is awful. the only thing good about this is the location, the beds were dirty. We found old food in our room that was "cleaned" according to staff. In one of the photos im uploading you can see the water bubble where water is collected from the roof leak. it smelled like MOLLLD

    Great location, tired looking interior

    rating17 Nov 2024

The Pros: The location of the hotel is excellent, walking distance to River Walk and the Alamo. Desk staff very friendly, the hotel is quiet. Those two things go a long way to modifying the cons. The Cons: The colors are rather dark and depressing, the entire hotel looks kind of shabby and in need of a major makeover. The coffee pot in the lobby had not been replaced since breaking (when?). The room pillows were hard as rocks and the air conditioner blew icy drafts directly onto the beds. We had been advised that our room would not be made up daily but to ask if we needed anything. Had zero housekeeping during our 4 night stay although we did get fresh towels when we asked. Breakfast is not included but only offered 2 entrees so we went elsewhere for that.
