Fees galore
06 Jun 2026
We have stayed at the Hotel Contessa at least 3 times. It is a lovely hotel and has a very convenient location. We had several issues with our last stay. This hotel nickels and dimes you for everything. Parking is $59.00/day plus tax. They charge you a $20.00 amenity fee. Then there is a tax on the amenity fee. But the real irritant is that they are now charging you a credit surcharge of 3%. Seriously, who doesn't pay a hotel bill with a credit card?I have tried contacting the hotel three times via different email addresses including one on their own website that was going to the front desk. I have not had one response.

Ask for Francisco in the Ambler Restaurant
05 Jun 2026
Just wanted to take the time to let you know how outstanding Francisco in the Ambler restaurant took care of us. He didn’t miss a beat to get our food perfect. Always making sure we didn’t need anything. We stayed several nights and he greeted us like we were family.

ten out of ten driver and service David L, General Manager at Hotel Contessa - Suites on the Riverwalk, responded to this review What a fun time to be in San Antonio! Thank you for sharing this. With the excitement surrounding the Spurs Championship run, I’m so glad our shuttle helped make getting to and from the stadium easy and stress-free.Hearing that your experience was a "ten out of ten" means a lot. Our drivers take great pride in taking care of our guests, and I know they’ll appreciate the recognition.Thank you for choosing Hotel Contessa during such an exciting time in the city. We hope to see you back soon, and hopefully there will be another championship celebration to enjoy!

Great Customer service
28 May 2026
The 5 stars are for Front desk Associate Abbas is the best! He made our trip memorable for my family and was very accommodating. This is a busy hotel, valet was pricey and hectic at check out time. But they worked it the best they could, it is just a small space to move the cars in and out. David L, General Manager at Hotel Contessa - Suites on the Riverwalk, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I’m especially grateful for your recognition of Abbas. He has a genuine passion for hospitality and a wonderful ability to make guests feel welcomed and cared for, and I’m thrilled to hear he helped make your family trip so memorable. I’ll be sure to share your kind words with him.I also appreciate your understanding regarding valet operations. During busy periods, particularly at checkout, the arrival area can become quite active, but our team works hard to move vehicles as efficiently and safely as possible while taking care of each guest.Thank you for choosing Hotel Contessa. We truly appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you and your family back again soon.
