Good value, great location, nice staff

My partner and I spent a week here recently. The staff were super friendly and helpful and went the distance several times to make our visit nice. The breakfast was great: real eggs and meat and good coffee. The location is convenient for Balboa Park and The Gaslamp Area. Our room was quiet, we had hot water in the shower and good TV reception. Boutique is Best at the Western

The Best Western San Diego is a smaller boutique hotel in the heart of the city. The staff couldn't do enough to ensure we had an enjoyable stay at the hotel. The room had every amenity we needed and the price was right. We loved this smaller boutique hotel and their wonderful staff. If you are into a modern big hotel then this is not your place. But for me this place was perfect. Way too loud for a restful sleep

The photos of the property are highly edited. While the property is in ok condition, the rooms have been remodeled but not the best condition.On the positive side, it was very clean. Unfortunately there were numerous problems. The room was tiny and didn't have a mini fridge which would be ok, but my key card didn't access the ice machine room. I went to the front desk and the employee went with me opened it with his key and asked to try mine. He was surprised mine did not work.This hotel is downtown and has no soundproofing for the rooms. In the middle of the night I was constantly awoken by people screaming and what sounded to be street racing. Due to the poor night's sleep we did not make it in time for the included breakfast so I cannot comment on that. Then the construction started. This hotel is being remodeled but it was not noted upon making a reservation. Overall, I wouldn't stay again. If you do, please do yourself a favor and bring ear plugs. Needs updating!

The location is good (we were able to walk to Petco park and the Gaslight), but this place needs some serious updating! The rooms are in rough shape, there’s no fan in the bathroom so the humidity is insane, and the beds are pretty uncomfortable. Would I stay there again?
