Location

The local charm of Old Town and the peaceful atmosphere of the hillside retreat make this the perfect spot from which to begin to experience America's Finest City. Facility

200 rooms and 19 suites are located on 3 storeys and can be reached by lift. English-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe, cash machine and drinks machine. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. A fireplace creates a cosy atmosphere. There are a number of shops as well. Additional amenities include a newspaper stand and a TV room.     Huge disappointment

    Absolutely atrocious. I won't be back until the crew that was working there June 7th 2026 are fired. I was treated awful but everyone there speaking Spanish was greeted with a smile and friendliness and tons of conversation. I waited for 4hrs for the bell hop to bring my bags to my room. They gave me attitude the one time I went down to ask about my bags at the 2hr mark. Only for her to condesendingly tell me the bell hop was at the airport like I was supposed to know that information. The second time I went to check was at the 4hr mark only to be greeted by the bell hop. Who told me that the two ladies at the front desk said to leave the bags for maintenence whatever that means. Then I had to convince him to help me with the bags to my room. His attitude was somewhat kind but definitely not in the mood to help me. He helped carry the bags to the 1st floor but I'm staying on the second floor. I'm a 45yr old disabled veteran with multiple combat tours with more physical problems than you can shake a stick at. The condescending and rude way I was treated will not go unchecked. And I'll refuse to stay here again after this stay. I hope their hourly wage is worth more than my lifetime patronage.

    Amazing hotel!

    This was a wonderful hotel! The location was unbeatable… Right in the area of old town, which has loads of restaurants, shops, and activities. The hotel restaurant was excellent and had one of the best hotel buffets ever! We enjoyed several meals overlooking the city and watching the sunset. Staff was incredibly attentive and delightful. Large rooms, great amenities and a beautiful setting! Highly recommend.

    Lovely setting of multiple buildings overlooking Old Town & greater San Diego. It does need a serious refresh of the rooms, woodwork worn, dresser from the 70’s, closet doors rattle & the bathroom, although clean needs a lot of attention: I would suggest making 2/3 of the baths walk in showers with simple tile. Staff friendly, attractive & professional. Plenty of parking & you can walk everywhere in Old Town.

    Our stay at Best Western Plus Hacienda Hotel Old Town was extremely disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff was rude and unprofessional. I politely asked if early check-in was possible, fully understanding that regular check-in wasn’t until 4 PM. The front desk lady immediately said no and told me that none of the rooms were clean yet—even though it was already 1 PM. I explained that I understood regular check-in wasn’t until 4 and was simply asking if any rooms happened to be available early. She then said they were fully booked, and I responded that was fine and that’s why I had asked. Strangely, right after that, she said early check-in was actually possible for an extra $25, which completely contradicted what she had just told me.Things got worse when she noticed I had used my state government discount while booking through their website. She proceeded to question why I had that rate, saying it wasn’t usually honored on weekends, even though the reservation had already been accepted and confirmed. She even asked if I was “actually on state business,” which was incredibly rude and inappropriate. As a government employee who travels often, I have stayed in many hotels and have never once been questioned like that.The biggest issue, however, was accessibility. My son has a broken leg and uses a wheelchair, and we were assigned a room that required climbing two separate staircases with absolutely no elevator access. This hotel is not accommodating for guests with mobility challenges, and the lack of ADA-friendly access was unacceptable. There was no realistic way for us to carry both my son and his wheelchair up and down stairs throughout our stay.The front desk staff showed no concern, offered no solution, and was completely unapologetic. We were left with no choice but to request a refund and book elsewhere. Thankfully, we stayed instead at Town and Country Resort just minutes away, where the staff was kind, professional, and the accommodations were clean, comfortable, and accessible.I would strongly recommend avoiding this hotel if you value good customer service, professionalism, or need ADA-friendly accommodations.

    A shabby neglected and grubby place, Paper with what appears to be excrement pushed between steps to our room, stained bedding, shower doesn’t work, walkways scattered with waste. What appears to be blood stains on a stair way to our room, Maintenance guy looks at our shower - says he can’t fix it until tomorrow when we leave.Under new management I hear - what manager is there? Neglect is a better description.We’re over 60 so they give us a room with no elevator access and leave us to heave our heavy bags up steep stone stair casesNothing best about this place - best stay somewhere else.
